PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP), South-West, has given the House of Representatives Minority Leader, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, 14 days within which to resign his membership of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The party gave the ultimatum in a release issued by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Honourable Kayode Babade and made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

"Since he has admitted that he was sanctioned by the Georgia Supreme Court for professional misconduct and negligence, the most honourable thing to do is to vacate his seat in the House of Representatives," he said.

The Supreme Court of Georgia, US, according to advertorials in the newspapers, had, on February 26, 2007 suspended Gbajabiamila from practising law for 36 months.

Gbajabiamila, an Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) lawmaker, admitted violating Rule 1.15(I) of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct set forth in Bar Rule 4-102(d) in respect of a $25,000 settlement claim.

The PDP said it was ridiculous that Gbajabiamila could be using the House of Representatives impeachment plot against President Goodluck Jonathan as a defence for his past.

The question that calls to mind is, is he the only thief in the House? Has Farouk or Hembe been kicked out? Is it ethical to harbor Criminals in the National Assembly? Will it be ideal if Gbajabiamila remains in the House? What is the best or Honourable thing to do when you are accused of corruption, or openly admit that you erred?

Under the normal circumstance anybody that should be elected by a majority to represent people in that capacity( house of rep) is not suppose to have a taint record as that of Gbajabiamila. So since he himself has agreed that he was suspended from legal practice due to his currupt practice then...we cannot continue to habor criminals in govt.

I wonder wat those Armed-robbers are still doing in the National Assemble. It baffles me as people commit crime wt impunity in this country. since he has admitted to the crime, the best thing is to give himself a summery trail and resign dishonorable. Theifs

We continue to harbour criminals in this PDP-led Government - how many convicted criminals home/abroad have gone on to become governors, senators, Reps for 2 terms and some are still in Government you cannot lick palm oil and hide your tongue when you talk
