Hello House, I started using my LG GX500 Java phone yesterday as Modem on my recently purchased laptop, using my Glo Sim card on gloflat settings because, I have been subscribing for Always Micro 200mb monthly using my phone.
Although the experience is too encouraging as I am browsing with slow connection but, one thing I have noticed is that, the speed is at a constant 238.6kbps. Is there is a problem? If yes, how can I solved it? Thank you all for your anticipated responses.

Chairman, as I am typing this now, I am my laptop using my phone as a Modem and my subscription is Always Micro.
I just dialed *127*0# right now and this is the response. "Your account is ACTIVE and it will expire on 21/08/2012 07:52. You are on Always Micro. Your remaining volume is 527Mb. Your renewal status is UN_SET"
So, what do you call the above?

I quite understand you very much and moreover, I don't think there's anything I can say I don't understand in using Glo. But, what I'm saying is that, since I started using my phone as a Modem, the speed have never increased nor decreased past 238.6kbps.
As you can see, I am browsing quite alright but why is the speed static?
See the screenshot again. Thank you.

While in Makurdi this morning, I noticed a significant improvements on the internet speed as compared to my previous experience in Yola, using the same LG GX500 as a Modem on the Glo network.

If true that you are using it for other networks, you should be able to use it with Glo as well. Meanwhile, you must add the Glo profile to your settings on your phone PC suite on your Laptop computer.
Again, you must use gloflat settings so that you can be able to subscribe. See my screen shot. Thank you.

Ok, thanks. I used the nokia pc suit to auto configure it. I can now browse on the laptop. Thank God!

However, I still have one more problem. I'm trying to buy a data plan; the #7,500 (30 days plan). But it keeps saying:

"Dear customer, the plan you are trying to purchase is not compatible with your current Data Plan - Instant Surf."

Thank God you can now browse on your laptop using Glo through Nokia PC Suite.
However, the plan you are trying to buy CANNOT work with your PC Suite because, it is NOT a tablets/handsets plan. You need a USB Modem before you can buy the plan, as it is a laptops/netbooks plan. Thank you. Visit www.gloworld.com/prepaidhsi.asp for more info.
Re: Using Your Phone As A Modem by luluosas(m): 10:27am On Sep 12, 2012
I don't know what the problem is right now with my phone. I can no longer access it from my laptop using usb cable, even if I select Mass Storage.
As a result of this, I can no longer use my LG PC Suite in my laptop. Meanwhile, I can still connect to the internet using my phone as a Modem via Bluetooth.
Before now, the highest speed I have been recording was 238.6kbs while connecting via USB Cable and 115.2kbs while using Bluetooth. But yesterday, I was surprised to see 298.0kbs while using Bluetooth. It pains me because the usb options was not working, this may have gone up to 320+kbs.
Please, if anybody have idea how I can fix this problem should help me out. Thank you.

@lulosas
The GX500 is not a 3G capable device. It's highest capacity is EDGE which as we all know is not as fast as 3G (HSPA, HSUPA, HSPA+).

You just have to manage your phone modem that way.

BTW didn't you know the GX500 wasn't a 3G device before you bought it?

Thanms man. Yes, I knew it was not a 3G phone before I bought it. I initially bought a Glo Netpro USB Modem but, as it could not work with my Desktop computer, I sold.
Now that I have a laptop, I'm yet to buy another usb Modem. Even though the speed on using my LG GX500 java phone as a Modem is NOT encouraging but, I use to manage it until my laptop no longer access my phone. I don't know what else to do now. Thanks.
Re: Using Your Phone As A Modem by luluosas(m): 11:24am On Sep 12, 2012
Corrections to my earlier post: It was a miserable 296.0bps (bytes) which is not even up to 0.5kbps, not 298.0kbps as I stated.

Thanks again. I went to a glo care center. It was a glitch. They corrected it, so I bought the 7.5k plan. Now I can't browse on the laptop with my phone modem. I can browse on the phone without any problem, except when I connect it to my laptop.

I can browse on the laptop with other networks regardless of the plan I'm on. I just don't understand Glo. Why don't they allow us use any plan we want, anyhow we want?

Ok. Please, ensure that you have the Glo flat settings, this is the only settings you can use with a subscription plan. Check your settings now.
