ACN senator faults own party, defends PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur

Mr. Ojudu says, "For now, Tukur is innocent until he is proved guilty. The sin of the son should not be visited on the father. I disagree with my party a little on the call for Bamangar Tukur to step down."

Senator Babafemi Ojudu, representing Ekiti Central, says the critics of the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, should desist from calling for his resignation.

Mr. Ojudu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that Mr. Tukur could not be asked to resign until he had been linked with the alleged scandal involving his son.

It will be recalled that the National Publicity Secretary of ACN, Lai Mohammed, had urged Tukur to step down immediately following his son’s indictment in the fuel subsidy scam.

Mr. Ojudu, a member of the ACN, reasoned that Tukur’s son was an adult and should be answerable for any offence he committed.

"I disagree with my party a little on the call for Bamangar Tukur to step down.

"This is because the moment somebody is above 18 years of age such person is an adult and could be held responsible for his misdeed.

"For now, Tukur is innocent until he is proved guilty. The sin of the son should not be visited on the father,’’ Ojudu said.

According to him, if after all the investigations, it is discovered that Mr. Tukur assisted his son to commit the alleged crime, then he could be made to face the wrath of the law.

Mr. Ojudu said the PDP chairman had not been arraigned before any court of law, noting that his critics should refrain from making hasty conclusion about him.

However, the senator stressed that the senate would pursue the issue of fuel subsidy scam to a logical conclusion, adding that it would not be swept under the carpet.

Mr. Ojudu said Nigerians were waiting to see the end of the case as the probe had attracted so much interest and attention in Nigeria and the world at large.

Don't mind Lai(lier) Mohammed always calling for opposition resignation unjustly.Let him do d same to Mr Tinubu who has amassed so much wealth at d detriment of Lagos under a few years.ACN-Asiwaju Company of Nigeria.lol

Again the big question in my mind is, can any 28 or 29 yr old hit such a jackpot without bullying their way through with influential people? The Son of Tukur in question most probably benefited from the subsidy fraud because of who his father is in Nigeria today and he will likely be beating any case thrown at him for same reason. Bamanga Tukur should resign or atleast stepdown Temporarily from his PDP position to allow justice prevail.

Bitter truth for Lai Mohammed and his ACN cohorts to consume. Lai should learn to speak when it's necessary not 'speaking' for speaking sake.

That is a man of moral standing not coloured by selfish interest. Sen Ojudu best leader Ekiti ought to be praying for.
