Nigeria needs urgent restructuring. This present dubious federalism is a time bomb waiting to explode any moment. |

This is 3 days into the declaration, what political and economic structures has Ogoniland put in place to show that she is serious? That Diigbo of a man is just seeking cheap popularity. Govt should ignore him. Let's see whether those Local Govt Chairmen in Ogoniland will refuse to collect monthly revenue from the Nigerian govt. |

Time bomb? Do you really think this is something to be taken seriously? One man came out and said his tribe is independent with no force or structure to defend his declaration. Mind you this is a tiny tribe that occupies a plot of land that won't appear on world maps because it's a local government area if anything. I know the ogoni have been going for this independence thing for a while but I've seen them in action, discord, betrayal, and a total lack of focus organization and unity are the characteristics of the 'separatist' movement. They wrote a letter to hillary clinton a few years ago that was riddled with typos, misspellings and atrocious grammar that i personally read. This, i repeat, is a joke. |

I still maintain that the Ogoni people reserve the rights to this declarations. The people from that section have been over the years subjected to hardship and wickedness. The FG vis a vis the Nigerian state and so-called IOC have reduced the value of life in Ogoni land below what is acceptable in the animal kingdom I couldn't hold back my tears after a personal assessment of the extend of destruction SPDC inflicted on Ogoni land, due to constant pollution of the environment via various oil mining activities. Why is the state governor NOT supporting this? why are people of Niger delta extraction NOT supporting this? For me,everybody deserve to be treated equally under the law and Ogoni people should be regarded as such. |

Which great mandela? the man looks like a hungry man looking by all means to gain his own share of the loot going around. MEND has claimed it's own. Did you think those in the Delta who have not gotten their own share would sit back and continue watching, while criminals get rewarded? |

"The advent of perestroika and glasnost in the late 1980s allowed the establishment of Sąjūdis, an anti-communist independence movement. After a landslide victory in elections to the Supreme Soviet, members of Sąjūdis proclaimed Lithuania's independence on 11 March 1990, becoming the first Soviet republic to do so. The Soviet Union attempted to suppress the secession by imposing an economic blockade. Soviet troops attacked the Vilnius TV Tower, killing 14 Lithuanian civilians and wounding 600 others on the night of 13 January 1991 (January Events). On 31 July 1991 Soviet paramilitaries killed seven Lithuanian border guards on the Belarusian border in what became known as the Medininkai Massacre. On 4 February 1991, Iceland became the first country to recognise Lithuanian independence. After the Soviet August Coup, independent Lithuania received wide official recognition and joined the United Nations on 17 September 1991. The last Soviet troops left Lithuania on 31 August 1993 – even earlier than they departed from East Germany." |

There is someone very soothing about the man's picture and his flag. It feels "pioneering". Thank God for a day like this. |
