Fifa: Why by larry007(m): 9:23pm On Dec 17, 2007
I Watched in amazement as the FIFA Hierachy gave the second position of the 2007 FIFA WORLD PLAYER TO LIONEL MESSI. My Question is FIFA WHY? Although am a Manchester United Football Club Die Hard,Non Repentant Supporter , I Do Like the Boy Called Lionel Messi But On This Particular Instant FIFA Goofed By awarding The Second Best World Player to Messi.
Athough Its My PERSONAL Opinion, I Feel England is been Short Changed.

FIFA's WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
KAKA' First
Messi Second
Ronaldo Third

IN MY CANDID VIEW THE AWARD SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THIS ORDER
KAKA FIRST
RONALDO SECOND
MESSI THIRD

PLS Do not get me wrong Messi is a very good Player but the year in review Ronaldo was more Consistent and better than Messi. Case Closed Ronaldo should have been awarded the Second Place.Life Goes On .

how many times have you watched messi play? is it not just the english premiership you always watch. yarn crap
Re: Fifa: Why by dayokanu(m): 6:44am On Dec 18, 2007
You think its by dribbling Fulham and Derby silly and freezing against Milan and Chelsea and other big teams that they give awards? Go and watch last seasons el clasico Madrid 3 Barca 3.

Ronaldo should try and live up to the big games and not get erections at call gals and Derby County. tongue grin tongue
Re: Fifa: Why by tkb417(m): 7:37am On Dec 18, 2007
i can see he won the second best player in the world because of a game in the la liga. I can't stop laffing because the abnormality in reasoning is at an alarming rate in this land.

The UCL, the games for national teams, the respective leagues should have been used. Ronaldo was the best in the EPL, Kaka was the best in serie A, Messi wasnt the best in the La liga.

The EPL teams were the best aside AC Milan and it showed in the last UCL, Ronaldo was the best for his country in the year under review and so what will the reasons be for this anomaly?

Like someone just said, the "el classico" was used in determining the second best player in the world. So be it if thats the case. (craze world)

PS: The European awards is saying something different from what FIFA is saying so obviously, something must be missing.

Did you see Messi play? Great performances great goal in every competition. Copa America, La Liga everywhere. Great performances in few important games are more important than countless battering of minnows .

Ronaldo should learn to play the big games. No one wins World player of the year by dribbling Derby County and Sunderland. Its the performances against Madrid, Barca, Milan, Munich and other big teams and in competition that people watch and matter.

Remember Ronaldo Lima won the world footballer of the years with 8 good games at the 2002 world cup the highest level not step overs against Coventry and derby county.

Moreover no Diver has ever won the award and would ever win the award.

yeah right. . . thats why the UEFA is saying something different. Copa America last seasonhuh pls remind me the games
my memory is failing

Performances against big teams?? which of the big teams. are you refering to the 3-3 against Real. pls, tell me another one you saw last season. im waiting. . .

No diver will win the award. . . . fine by me. It means Messi wont win cos hes a known Diver!!!
Re: Fifa: Why by ayusman16(m): 8:40am On Dec 18, 2007
Yeah! Messi is a diver no doubt but Ronaldo is a more childish diver and it sucks!
Re: Fifa: Why by tkb417(m): 8:41am On Dec 18, 2007
@Ayusman
thats true. . .it irritates me atimes too
Re: Fifa: Why by lakeside4love(m): 9:00am On Dec 18, 2007
Ronaldo is a cheap diver, so there is no way Fifa wuld give World Best or Second place to a Diver,

Messi wuld be crowned World best at least 3 times, before Ronaldo can smell it,
Re: Fifa: Why by tkb417(m): 9:06am On Dec 18, 2007
na wa o, cheap diver and pure Diver?? grammar na wa!!
any act of Diving is conny and the intent is to deceive into awarding dubious calls.
so which one is cheap and which one is expensive?

Nairaland na die!!

My opinion,
It's not FIFA giving out these awards,
It's the result of votes by Captain and Coaches of Countries all over the world.
For example, I heard JOhn Terry Voted for both Didier Drogba and Peter Cech, So I see no reason why FIFA should really be blamed.
I always laugh at some of these awards.
Thierry Henry was among the top 50.Tell me what Henry did in the year 2007, He's been injured since March!!! and has only played few games for Barca, Ok, he has surpassed Platini's record as France's highest goal scorer and like someone theorised here, Maybe he was in top 50 because of the last minute winner he scored against Man utd at the Emirates grin grin, Or could it be the equaliser against Boro earlier in the year grinhuh huh huh.
Some players keep appearing every year and u wonder what they did except that they were past 'greats',
Re: Fifa: Why by tkb417(m): 9:24am On Dec 18, 2007
@HNIC
my guy, thanks jare for an objective yarn.
I was expecting these dunderheads to say all these. . . Its how people perceive the players, emotions and also present feats can sway the way they vote.
My take is Messi has been awesome this season with some breathtaking goals while Ronaldo hasnt re-ignited the last year feat. (Although he has 5 goals already in the UCL)

These factors may sway the way these chaps will vote not for some people to come forth with diving shits. South americans Messi inclusive are known for diving and that doesnt take away the fact that they are the best when it comes to footbal artistry.

Henry didnt win cos of the same mentality not because he wasnt good enuff. Some peeps even said it was cos he was in the EPL.

Back to HNIC
my guy, how did you see your victory against the blues? im sure you were a bit scared?
Re: Fifa: Why by HNIC(m): 9:36am On Dec 18, 2007
@tkb417
I had a headache after the match. The last 15 minutes was awesome,
First I think, it was SWP's miss, I could have sworn it would be a goal when the ball fell on his feet, then at the other end, I was celebrating Van Persie's goal when I looked at the linesman and saw his flag up huh huh,
Then I thought Ade had scored and next thing the ref said no, at the other end Mikel, yes Mikel released a fantastic shot, goal, I thought until I saw Almunia save it,
Injury time and we conceeded a free kick,I thought, oh mine, Alex's shot would be unstoppable, as soon as I saw Shevy(No 1 Pensioner) take the shot(ferocious), I thought it was all over, until Almunia saved the day again(He was my Arsenal man of the match) cool cool,
Then Bendtner released Fab4 to score the backbreaking goal deep into injury time, Fab decided to swerve and as soon as he hit it,Cashley did what he had always done at arsenal(saving the ball on the line), Fab, frustrated lunged at him with a bad tackle,Cashley retaliated, and I thought yes, finally a fight will break out. embarassed embarassed embarassed,
Good enough, they both pretended to be injured, and the ref decided he's had enough, What a match,
Re: Fifa: Why by tkb417(m): 10:15am On Dec 18, 2007
@HNIC
grin grin grin u be funny man. The match i agree with you was filled with events. good game anyway from the two sides and im sure u must have recovered from the headache cool cool
Re: Fifa: Why by Mc Omo(m): 11:51am On Dec 18, 2007
I wonder why the likes of Pirlo are left out, whilst listing DIVINOS AND DIVESSIS in the top 3 in the world huh

Ronaldo was aight in the league against teams like Sunderland and Derby but not against Chelsea and Arsenal bu then . . . . the guy is a diver, showboatter, cheat, winker, call girls' patron and all the f@ckevers tongue

Messi no doubt is better, but he too is a cheat, and even at that I feel the rave reviews he gets is cos of the fact that he plays alongside Dinho dwarfing him most times in the process cool

that said, FIFA officials sometimes come across as being very foolish . . . . what did Henry do season-long to merit a place in the top 50 like Hennesy said ? shocked
Re: Fifa: Why by ndubest(m): 12:36pm On Dec 18, 2007
hello guys
you all are missing the politics of football
i have pointed it out in an earlier post that "it doesnt really matter so much" your skills or your display on the pitch
one of the bigest things that counts is the CLUB you play for and your country of origin
they are the ones that move the money around in world football

play alll you want
dribble all the players in the field
if you are not in the right club (AM SORRY TO SAY)
just forget it

you may ask Thierry Henry for a clue grin grin
Re: Fifa: Why by ndubest(m): 12:42pm On Dec 18, 2007
, am a Barcelona fan

but thinking objectively

i think that Ronaldo deserves second place

may be he should think of moving other to Real Madrid if he ever hopes to get that award cheesy cheesy cheesy

one display in "el classico" alone is enough to give him what he want cheesy
