All i see on this page is someone who is full of hated and resentments for Igbos!
How are Igbos claiming all Blacks in the Americas? 95percent of what we know about Igbo slaves in the diasporal was written by non igbos and foreign slave dealers. A good number of African American have also written about their Igbo heritage and ancestry.
We have people like Olaudah Equiano etc that wrote about the Igbo identity in the diaspora.
I don't care about the number of Efik,Senegambia, Cameroon, Bantu, Igbo and Yoruba slaves sold to America, but i'm more interested in the number of the descendents of these People that come out to claim Igbo ancestry.
One particular trend i've noticed is that most African Americans tend to throw up and identify as Igbo and Nigerian even before they go for a DNA test. Some of them with heterogenous West African ancestral genes even tend to stick to their Igbo sides,a typical example are people like Danny Glover and Blair Underwood, look them up!
How are igbos suddenly claiming them?
The Survival of Igbo customs and words in the Carribbean proves that a good number of Igbos were shipped to those places.
More often than not, DNA test throws up a significant amount of Igbo ancestry amongst African Americans.
I don't care of any bantu ancestry or the number of Bantu slaves in America. Slavery shouldn't have happened,it is not an achievement or symbol of pride but i'm interested in people that have come out to embrace their Igbo ancestry.

Unfortunately, descendents of African slaves including Bantu only identify as Africans or Blacks. They don't have time for that. This Bantu and African division only exist in your heads.

It's as clear as day. You wouldn't find Brazilians shouting about any Bantu thing. They identify as Afro - Brazilians and just embrace their overall African identity. This division is still in your heads...

Why don't you drop your Igbo identity and embrace the African only first? Who are you to tell Bantu they should not identify as bantu ?

Lmao. This is not about Bantu or Igbos. This is about Black Brazilians and how they see themselves. No Black Brazilian identifies as Bantu or whatever. They call themselves Afro or Black Brazilians because they come from different areas of Africa. They are even more likely to claim Yoruba or Igbo before any Bantu stuff.
They are Afro Brazilians....this division and discrimination is in your heads. They don't have that time!

Ihuwhatever
Your problem is blogging without facts. Everyone around the world knows that Angola-Congo slaves dominated in Brazil and again the Bight of Biafra stretched from SE Nigeria/Cross river area to Gabon. Example most slaves that were taken to Brazil from Biafra came mainly from Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome not SE Nigeria. Even today theres strong links between EQ and Spanish Americas and Brazil even though its small due to small number of slaves.

* Senegambia (Senegal and the Gambia): 4.8%
* Upper Guinea (Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone): 4.1%
* Windward Coast (Liberia and Ivory Coast): 1.8%
* Gold Coast (Ghana and east of Ivory Coast): 10.4%
* Bight of Benin (Nigeria west of the Niger Delta, Benin, Togo): 20.2%
* Bight of Biafra (Nigeria east of the Niger Delta, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon): 14.6%
* West Central Africa (Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola): 39.4%
* Southeastern Africa (Mozambique and Madagascar): 4.7%

Western Africa = 55.9%
Bantu Africa = 44.1%
With a lot of slaves from Bantu Africa going to Brazil.

What is the argument even about?

THE 1ST BLACK LAND OWNER IN U.S.A. WAS BANTU. grin grin grin grin grin

Anthony Johnson's Virginia and Maryland:
Map of Colonial Settlement by 1700
BORN IN ANGOLA,AFRICA

Anthony Johnson was the first prominent black landholder in the English colonies. Johnson arrived in Virginia in 1621 aboard the James. It is uncertain if Johnson arrived as an indentured servant or as a slave, early records list him as “Antonio, a Negro.” Regardless of his status, Johnson was bound labor and was put to work on Edward Bennett’s tobacco plantation near Warresquioake, Virginia. In March of 1622 local Tidewater Indians attacked Bennett’s plantation, killing fifty-two people. Johnson was one of only five on the plantation who survived the attack.

In 1622 “Mary, a Negro Woman” arrived aboard the Margrett and John and like Anthony, she ended up on Bennett’s plantation. At some point Anthony and Mary were married; a 1653 Northampton County court document lists Mary as Anthony’s wife. It was a prosperous and enduring union that lasted over forty years and produced at least four children including two sons and two daughters. The couple was respected in their community for their “hard labor and known service,” according to court documents.

At some point between 1625 and 1640 Anthony and Mary gained their freedom and moved to Virginia’s Eastern Shore where they purchased a modest estate. They began raising cattle and hogs and by 1651, Johnson claimed 250 acres of land along Pungoteague Creek. He claimed the land by virtue of five headrights, one of which was in the name of his son, Richard Johnson. It is impossible to know if Anthony imported the other men whose names appear on the headright land claims, but it is possible that he did. It is also possible that he purchased headright certificates from other planters. Either way, 250 acres was a sizeable plantation by the standards of the day. By 1654 Johnson’s two sons, Richard and John, both owned acreage adjoining their father’s land.

In addition to being a landowner, Anthony Johnson was also a slaveholder. Court records reveal that Johnson won a 1655 case against white planter, Robert Parker, to retain ownership of Johnson’s slave, John Casor. Casor, with the help of Robert Parker, tried to claim that he was an indentured servant, not a slave. Although the courts initially found in Parker’s favor, temporarily freeing Casor, they subsequently reversed the decision, returning Casor to the service of his master, Anthony Johnson.

A fire in 1653 destroyed much of the Johnson’s plantation. As a result of the fire, Anthony and Mary petitioned the court for tax relief, which was granted on the grounds that they would have difficulty obtaining a livelihood. Sometime in the 1660s Anthony and Mary Johnson, their dependent children, and their married sons, John and Richard, all moved north into Maryland. In Maryland, Anthony leased a 300-acre farm, Tonies Vineyard, where he lived until his death in 1670. Mary survived her husband, and in her 1672 will she bequeathed a cow to each of her grandsons. Five years later, in 1677, Anthony and Mary’s grandson, John Jr., purchased a 44-acre farm which he named Angola. John Jr. later died without leaving an heir, however, and by 1730, the Johnson family had vanished from the historical records.

I,just like other Africans in diaspora don't care about any Bantu slaves that were sent to Brazil or Jamaica. It's only a backward African that will boost of sending more slaves across the Atlantic. Something as Evil and Inhumane as African slavery is not something to be proud of. It has already happened and those guys have moved on to embrace their African identity irrespective of any Bantu majority trash you are trying to instigate.
The Last time i checked, non of them were even proud or spoke of bantu, they don't care about your existence.
They just identify as African American and move on.
Keep your Bantu trash to yourself, bantu is not a race!

He was the great-grandson of a slave who was born in the modern-day Democratic Republic of the Congo
Wikipedia

Marshall’s mother, who had considerable influence over him, traced her African roots to a 17th-century Congolese slave who caused so much trouble that his slave master finally set him free. Freedom was Thurgood Marshall’s driving passion as well.
