Hello, I want to buy an automatic transmission 406 for my wife but people have frightened me to death about its potential problems. If i still go ahead what does is cost to replace or change it to manual transmission in case it does develop problems. And where in Naija can its problems be solved. |

Ahmedfrk: Hello, No disrespect, but if you're even considering converting a 4-speed automatic Peugeot 406 to 5-speed manual, why not simply buy a manual to start with?? It's not like manuals are rare cars. Unless you simply like creating issues for yourself where they shouldn't exist... 1 Like |

From Statistics I have Personally Obeserved,the Auto Tranny is an issue with most 406 Auto car owners I know. I Onced witnessed a situation that the gear couldn't engage in 4 or 5 and thus stopped at 3 leaving the Rpm at very High points. From the owners thought or assumption "he said" the problem usually developed from a component in the ECU that had to do with transmission Like Siena Said,Although Am sure your 1st Prefference is an auto...I'll advice you Go for a manual. 1 Like |

Don't, buy only manual for your wife's sake. if she really wants auto you should look elsewhere, Toyota Camry or Corolla OR Honda Civic or Accord. |
