A Nigerian businessman based in Tokyo, Japan, Mr Stanley Okafor, has donated a Samsung Galaxy Tab and IPAD to each member of the national U-20 women’s team, the Falconets.

Ejiro Femi-Babafemi, Falconets Media Officer, in an online statement monitored by NAN in Abeokuta, said that the donation was for the Falconets performance at the competition.

The Falconets on Aug. 30 defeated Mexico 1-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the competition and would meet the U.S on Sept. 4.

The statement said that each of the 21 players and 10 officials received the mobile device at a colourful ceremony held at the team’s Hilton Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

The statement added that Okafor, who claimed to have watched the Falconets matches from the preliminaries, had earlier donated 800 dollars to the team, prior to its match against Italy.

“It’s my widow's mite of saying well done. You have made us proud. This is the best national team as far as I am concerned, and I am delighted to be identified with you,” Okafor said.

The statement added that the businessman, who has spent over 22 years in Tokyo, also assured the team of more goodies if they eventually lifted the trophy.

“All I just want from you is to do your part by defeating U.S.A on Tuesday and by extension, lifting the Cup. God has given you what it takes to win,” he said.

The statement said that Okafor, was presented with the team’s full regalia-- Adidas kits-- by the team’s Head of Delegation and board member of the Nigeria Football Association, Chief Effiong Johnson.

Johnson, according to the statement commended Okafor for the gesture on behalf of NFA’s President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.

Is Okafor's business legitimate? Will it not be national shame if Okafor bought those things with drug money? National assignment shouldnt be compensated with individual gifts. He should have bought those things and sent to NFF first.
