First,which sort of Visa did your friend say he got you?I know it's almost impossible for a first timer to get a Dubai work permit and visa.Besides,it's expensive too,costs nothing less than 4000usd.Did your friend do all that for you or he got you the regular 2 weeks tourist visa?

Which company did he claim employ you?get that information from him or her,google the company and if you get leads,ask questions.

Generally speaking,there are NOT many jobs in Dubai now especially for non Emirates citizens,even in Abu Dhabi.Most of the Niaja boys in Dubai are just hanging by Deira park waiting for ladies that come shopping to help shop,package and ship their goods back to Naija for a couple of dirhams.

Accomodation in Dubai is expensive too.

And oh,a Dubai return ticket with Rwanda airlines is around 135,000 while Ethiopian and Kenyan airlines hangs around 148,000.Emirates and Qatar air goes for 190,000 and above.
