So says your paymaster. What else is new?

You need to pay a visit and see things for yourself. I went there and saw the quality of infrastructure which is of international standard. Charity begins at home and Okorocha has changed the face of Ogboko.

Legally, this Eastern Palm University, who owns it? Is there any law of Imo state government establishing the university?

The problem with the bitter losers in Imo State is that they prefer living in lies amongst themselves thinking that people are stupid. If someone can shamelessly deny free education, deny hundreds of schools, deny even roads he plies on regularly, it makes no sense trying to convince him.

On the ownership of the University it is Imo State owned. Rochas Foundation was already building a free University at the site before he emerged Governor in 2015 and based on reasonable advice donated the property to Imo State as the site for relocation of IMSU which met stiff opposition. The aim is to spread development beyond Owerri as full campus is a major contributor to cash flow around host community and it metamorphosed to Eastern Palm University.

I went there and was highly impressed.

But is the university Imo state government owned?

Or is it just Imo state owned?

Is there any law yet by Imo state government establishing the university, as done in all other state government universities in Nigeria?

That University is owned by Rochas. Remember the process of establishing a state university must pass through House of Assembly as a Law, so please asked the liar which Law that established the University and why leaving IMSU to rot away while building a new one, now compare and contrast qualities of other universities he said he's building in okigwe and Ngor Okpala,

Imo abandons 26 hospital projects

Three years since Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha began the construction of what he called “world class hospitals” in all the state’s 27 local government areas, only one of them has been completed while all the others are uncompleted, unequipped and abandoned at various stages, according to a report of the Eastern Nigeria Governance Tour by development consultant Bamikole Oluwafemi Adeleye.

Bamikole Adeleye is a researcher, social advocate and active citizen working with a coalition of other active Nigerians in a Citizen Governance & Media Advocacy Programme (CGMAP).

While launching the projects in 2014, the report said, Governor Okorocha promised that all the hospitals will be completed and made fully functional by January 2015. But a recent tour of the project sites showed that only the Airforce Hospital in Owerri North has been completed. The General Hospital at Aboh Mbaise, which serves three local governments, is abandoned. The report said “Njaba hospital has no equipment, no gate, is not functional and has bushes all over the yard.” The good governance tour found the same situation at Orlu, Nkwerre, Ahiazu and Ikeduru. At Ahiazu, the report said the main general hospital was demolished by Okorocha’s government to make way for a timber market but the new one being built to replace it has been abandoned with bushes all over the site.

The report said the uncompleted or abandoned hospital projects have cost the state dearly because billions of naira was sunk into them but citizens have not reaped any benefits. The report also noted that construction of new hospitals was embarked upon even though Imo State’s existing general hospitals have no access to clean water or regular power supply and they suffer from an acute shortage of medical personnel.

According to the report, Okorocha launched a “Free Health For all” program in 2014, with pomp and fanfare. Under the program, he promised the treatment of aged citizens at no cost, improvement of medical services in the state and upgrading of health facilities. Three years afterwards, the report said respondents in all local governments surveyed said there is “no improvement in the employment of quality workforce,” that quality of service in the hospitals have declined and that out-patient services for citizens are very expensive. The report described the decision to set up the new hospitals as “impractical, wasteful, and not based on sound policy qualities (e.g. technical efficiency, equitable distribution of health welfare or allocative efficiency).”

When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, said four of the projects have been completed, equipped, and handed over to the Army, Navy, and Police. He did not say why others have not been completed.

Onwuemeodo said: “All those telling you lies about the Imo State government should go and repent. I am talking to you not just as the Chief Press Secretary to His Excellency, the governor of Imo State, but also as a child of God. The PDP ruled this state for 16 years but they used the state funds to organise parties and merriment. Today, we are talking of Governor Okorocha’s administration that has completed over 1000 projects, and you are there listening to people telling lies against the government.”

All that Imo state needed for healthcare delivery are the FMC Owerri, Imo Specialist Hospital, Owerri, Imo state university teaching hospital Orlu, and another mega hospital or branch of the teaching hospital as pursued by Ohakim in Okigwe area; then the General Hospitals in every local government area as consulting clinics.

It's near impossible for any Imo state government to equip and run the twenty something General Hospitals as conceived by Gov. Okorocha.

Meanwhile, the once most-patronized Imo State University teaching hospital has become the first victim of Okorocha's New General hospitals, as this government deliberately did everything to stifle the institution to comatose state.

Sam Onwuemedo summarized everything. Before you define project as abandoned is when nothing is done on site for at least one whole year. As for running of the hospitals Okorocha made his intentions very open that they will be privatised and health insurance policy used as obtainable in advanced countries.

Imo State University Teaching Hospital – An Abandoned Project?

 nkemokoyon

Imo State University Teaching Hospital – An Abandoned Project?
Activities in Imo State University Teaching Hospital(IMSUTH),recently christened Evan Enwerem University Teaching Hospital(EEUTH),Orlu is gradually coming to a standstill, thanks to the gross negligence and the obvious lackadaisical attitude of the Ohakim-led administration towards the establishment of needed structures, completion of the already existing ones, caring properly for the staff and so on. The hospital, together with the medical college and the nursing department of the state’s university are in a comatose situation. The comatoseness has become so bad that urgent intervention is needed to avoid possible death.

Recently, we heard that the hospital is open and running while it was placed under lock and key. This opened a new vista into the plight of the citizens of the state whose health and general interest should be the leadership’s primary concern and assignment. It also questioned the authenticity of the information delivered to the poor masses. It dawned on us that there is a high level of prevarication in the administration and that we been deceived for a very long time.Perhaps, even the things we were told and made to believe previously, were well constructed lies- the more we looked, the less we saw. Who is deceiving who in this state? It is like the people we presumptively voted into power are cheating on us and claiming to still be our friends.

The worst of it all was the impression that even ‘free surgery’ is going on in the long abandoned ‘poultry’, which was the same word allegedly used to described the hospital by the ‘ruler’ of the state. It is quite appalling and pity-worthy! A lot of water has actually passed under the bridge in the state but I am more concerned about the Teaching Hospital in Orlu and the students, whose lives are being wasted and destinies unnecessarily delayed. The students have become victims of the fight between the state’s leadership and the unhappy health workers in the hospital.

A regular visitor to the teaching hospital at Orlu will agree with me that it is presently a shadow of its traumatized self, with many abandoned projects that are seriously begging for attention; the hospital is gradually turning into a forest, providing niches for all sorts of wild animals. It is true that there are many hospitals in the state but we can only boast of this one and only ‘teaching’ hospital which gives the state the needed platform, like other states, to train and produce qualified medical doctors and nurses that can carter for the health needs of the people of the state and neighbouring states. In a teaching hospital like ours, you will find specialists and experts that have skills to tackle even difficult, life-threatening health cases, thus sparing Imo citizens both the large financial involvements and stress of seeking help from neighbouring states or even abroad.

As if there is an existing supremacy tussle between the previous and present governments, some of the costly machines(like MRI and CT Scan) bought by the past administration and would have been a dependable source of income for the state, has been abandoned in their containers to rust and be destroyed under harsh weather. Yet we complain that we don’t have money and cannot pay our workers. No one knows the reason(s) behind the continuous abandonment, but it may not be far from a political matter. There seems to be a sort of political vendetta against the other political zones that are not in power- I stand to be corrected. The innocent masses are forced to suffer it directly or indirectly. The state’s House of Assembly and other influential individuals in the state have refused to make any reasonable effort towards changing the status quo.

Where is the millions of naira that was purportedly released for the standardization of the university’s nursing school, as a step towards attracting a possible accreditation of the department by the National Council concerned? We only noticed little and negligible work going on there, the greater work being done on the internet and our money-loving media houses. In fact, it is an already existing building that is being completed and refurbished at the moment. We’re expecting others though. Where went the money that was released? Or was it released at all? Probably, it found its way into some special pockets as usual. What happened to the money meant for infrastructures that will alleviate people’s sufferings is what I don’t know.

The College of Medicine of the state’s university got her full accreditation since 2008, but have managed to graduate only two sets of medical doctors. The traffic that has been in existence even before we got it has been worsened, as against its reduction or even complete eradication; we’re just abusing the privilege we have that others don’t have. Students are invariably undergoing adult education, getting very old and sometimes getting married in school, while their counterparts elsewhere graduate at record time.

Students living in the school hostel have been battling water scarcity since the hospital was locked, the cleaners of their hostel have stopped work after failing to get their employer to pay them their accumulated salaries.

Even power supply is erratic and not available for the students to read with. The generator that used to serve as an alternative has not been in use for a very long time. Everything seems to have gone wrong with even the administration of the college. Workers show up for work only when they want and Alot has actually gone wrong in the hospital that almost all students are angry with the whole thing.

A six year course is now studied for up to eleven years and no one cares. The worst of it all is that the students are expected to pay the fees of these wasted years. They are also expected to pay the newly inflated school fees and carter for their house rents, and other necessities of life.

People, who are privileged and opportuned to travel abroad for their studies have refused to remain here, because no one knows when all these will end. Uncertainty of the future or end of ones time of study has gripped every student in Imo’s teaching hospital. We have made nigerians to develop apathy for anything nigerian.

Ukraine has suddenly become a hot-cake for those who desire to study medicine and other related courses abroad. Students can afford to step down or even start afresh, just because they know that once they start, there is no form of delay. Families can afford to sell precious belongings in their quest to sponsor their relatives.

Though the rate at which people move to these foreign schools are ever increasing, questioning the existing standard of education there, nigerians keep moving to them unperturbed. Due to the decay in our own educational sector, people prefer having a certificate from even nearby Ghana, not to talk of one from Ukraine, that has coveted the opportunity from nigerians to improve their economy.

Why should we not produce half-baked doctors after all the deprivations? We deserve not just apologies but quick actions from our leaders, who had all they needed during their time.

Apart from the accreditation that is under serious threat, the good hands heading various departments are gradually leaving for places with greener pastures, without any replacement. Lets learn from the woes of our neighbouring schools and act fast.

The student’s body, Imo State University Medical Students Association has not helped matters. The association has actually been impotent for some years, denying students the one large voice that speaks for them in times to troubles.

The leadership that has come and gone showed no sign of initiating any meaningful change. They were merely ceremonial, only carrying about titles with gross inactivity. Even the things they may claim they did are grossly insignificant. The body was unnecessarily friendly with the college’s adminitration, resisting nothing even when necessary.Maybe, they are afraid of victimization.

Exams are not written at the proper time. At least, students write their 2nd MB exam in their 5th year, instead of the 3rd year, forcing them to waste two years just for the pre-clinical classes. As time goes, there could be more years to be spent.

We need to pause and carefully pinpoint the problems plaguing our one and only teaching hospital and seek ways of redress, if we are still interested in its existence and functional soundness. The mindset of those in the helm of affairs in the state towards the hospital, that has not helped its growth should be dropped. The fierce competition between the zones of the states and its attendant ‘wars’ should be left. Whether the hospital is in Orlu or Owerri or even Okigwe, it still belongs to Imo.

Lets avoid more preventable deaths and unwarranted delay of destinies stemming from this abandonment. Posterity may not forgive us if we fail to do so. Despite these things, our leaders still expect us to put them back into the positions they handled with reckless abandon, gross insensitivity and inactivity towards their primary assignment. Just because whatsoever goes around has a way of coming around, let the government of Imo State arise and lift the hospital from collapse and at the same time eradicating the bad image it has acquired, at the long run, saving it the shame of becoming the much talked about ‘poultry farm’.

Why has Okorocha government deliberately refused to asphalt the road? The internal roads in IMSUTH remain non-tarred.

We are aware that under Okorocha government, a few buildings were added to IMSUTH, but they are mostly overgrown with weeds.

Anamsuth is not in Nnewi. Nauth is and it's not decent. You should have talked about Absuth or Esuth which were built prior to when Udenwa built a poor structured IMSUTH. Compare that IMSUTH with Eastern Palm University or even the faculties of Engineering Okorocha is building at Onuimo. Even the secondary schools built by Okorocha are far better. ANSUTH is a state university teaching hospital in Awka and also one of the best state teaching hospitals in Nigeria. Which one of them are you referring to? The last I checked they beats everything and anything you can offer in your Imo state. We can roll out the pictures of IMSUTH and ANSUTH for comparison. Imo state govt led by Udenwa started IMSUTH, Orlu. What prevents Okorocha govt to optimize IMSUTH? The hospital is not serving only Orlu people. It also serves Okorocha's Ideato people, serves people in Owerri and Okigwe.

Government is a continuity. If today's govt ruins what previous govts built in Imo state, the succeeding govts also ruins what today's govt is building.
God forbid that this govt makes Imo state go that way.

If it is IMSUTH he is building new, it has to be in Orlu urban local govt area, else the Eastern Palm University shall soon be History.

Imo state governments and private stake holders have spent close to N15 billion to establish IMSUTH Orlu.
Only a lunatic would think of ruining that to build another in Owerri or elsewhere outside Orlu, because the name Orlu strikes enemy territory in his ears.

I Mean Well For Ndi Imo - Gov Okorocha As He Receives Imo CAN

Gov Rochas Okorocha this morning received in audience, The Imo State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Imo chapter led by Apostle Ifeanyichukwu Godson Ibeji and his executive.

The CAN Chairman applauded the governor for putting God forsaken his activities listing the Government House Chapel, Mid-day Prayer, 27 Chapels across the State, etc.

In his response, Gov Okorocha thanked the group for appreciating the development strides of his administration and said he means well for Imo people. My prayer is that the Imo people understand me. When I started free education, they initially misunderstood me, when I built a chapel it was called a mosque and so on. I mean well for Ndi Imo. Our government intends to relocate the Police headquarters and Prisons to a more conducive environment. I am more interested in dedicating projects to God than commissioning them. I encourage you to introduce a Day of Peace, Reconciliation and Love in Imo. I am the most tolerant governor in this state. The press, our people and my opponents are free to talk and even insult me. No one under my watch has been disturbed for airing their views. Those who honor God, God honor them he said.

Sometime last year some mischief makers posted the photo of a tunnel under construction in Owerri in order to pass off wrong information to those outside the State but have refused to post the photo when completed. They do it in virtually every project done by Okorocha all in a bid to jeopardize his humble efforts.

Abagworo this is a rat hole culvert and not a tunnel. LOL

Road users should be careful because this substandard culvert is capable of collapsing on motorists passing under it.
