The new Owerri power substation is nearing completion and will soon be commissioned. This means improved power supply within Owerri and environs.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha said in Owerri yesterday that government has spent N7 billion on the building of the International Cargo Airport in the state

Briefing journalists at his private home in Owerri, Okorocha said government undertook the construction of the cargo airport to enable the work to move on, adding that the state would thereafter demand a refund from the Federal Government.

May 29, 2019.

On this day, people of Imo state shall reclaim their state from the Mayor of Owerri, Rochas Okorocha.

In six years, Mayor Okorocha used federal allocations to the 27 lgas of Imo State, as well as the state's federal allocations, to demolish, rebuild, often duplicate, triplicate or even quadruple whatever project he likes in Owerri. He wants to be seen in Owerri as presidential material.

The rest of Imo state outside Owerri stagnates, decay, written off.

Abagworo is now Imo1stson cheesy

Seem like the outrage following the unveiling of Jacob Zuma's stature by his paymaster got to him too.

Surprised he is yet to post pictures of the stature here and claim how its another dividend of democracy to be enjoyed by Imo folks.

I get your point, but I am afraid the leadership may be going to Owerri zone in 2019, according to the so-called Imo Power Sharing Charter (I am not sure that's what it is called though). And if that happens, nwanne, it's going to be a long walk to freedom...

SMH...

Fellow imolites

Most times it's very easy to criticise government. I'm not here to say, Rochas did well or didn't do well.

But what I want to know is, Imolites, what PRACTICAL steps do u think government of IMO can take to make our state a better one.... Note the *Practical*

If we can brainstorm here with ideas, someone somewhere might just see it and pick it up, and we start seeing the desired change in our beloved state.

From how to upgrade the standards of our higher institutions to how the rural men can feel the rpese CE of government

Thanks

#GOD BLESS IMO STATE#

Okorocha relaunches taxi scheme to replace Keke on major roads of Owerri.

Must d keke be gotten from the government? Are individuals allowed to buy, register t, then lease it out as is done with danfo or even Uber?

Please those in Owerri,
What happened to the promising Aladinma Mall? I have never heard anything useful of it since 2011.
Does it have any international anchor as SPAR or SHOPRITE? Does it have any notable restaurant of event center? Was the exterior and parking lot area ever beautified with palm trees etc to create an ambient shopping environment and make the place alluring?

Is it even still functional? If not what happened? If so, why can't it

Dont temodernize and attract anchors to help boost it's reputation as a true mall? It is one of the biggest malls in Nigeria, so what happened to it? Does it lack proper central air-conditioning ? Is it priced too expensive for anchors and local boutiques to find it attractive?

The location of the Mall was very poorly thought out. However, Is the road to the place even tarred to make it accessible to the public? The Aladinma Hospital road must be well tarred or even dualized and the Ngwa road connecting the Mall to Aladinma hospital road must also be well tarred with sidewalks & gutters on both sides.
Is electricity connected to the place? Does it have borehole facilities to keep the toilets clean? Please somebody should update on this potentially great mall

Don't tell me this has been abandoned please

There is no existing Charter of Equity to share power in Imo state. Anybody from any zone can contest and win to be next governor.

Besides, Owerri zone does not respect equity, because Owerri zone houses nearly every development project in Imo state, including five state and federal universities and polytechnics, Owerri has all federal housing estates, Owerri zone houses all federal and stater govt parastatals and ministries in Imo state - and asks for more..

From the way he fixated on Owerri with nearly all his development projects, but abandons rest of Imo state, Gov. Okorocha has demonstrated amply that he is from Owerri zone; as he has his palatial home in Owerri.

No governorship candidate in 2019 supported by Okorocha shall win outside Owerri zone.

Okorocha has his huge house in Owerri, lives as a private citizen in Owerri, hardly leaves Owerri except when going outside Imo state. By migration, he demonstrates he is now from Owerri zone through all his actions as governor.

Though he claimed he was from Orlu zone when he contested election.

But as you can testify, he has done every significant development project, even duplicating, triplicate, and often quadruple same development project in Owerri.

Can you find any significant development project of Okorocha in Orlu zone, except having to do with his private university in Ideato South??

Then there must b something else pulling him to Owerri aside d fact that he lives n has his private house in Owerri

Cos those ain't reasons for him to abandon his place

Although I agree with u that all his projects seem to have been kept only in Owerri

One of d projects that seemed to spread but was mysteriously stopped was d General Hospital he was building in several local governments.... T pains me to c that the work has stopped... I'm sure the amenities installed in those places, if any, might have been carted away by now

It's sad seeing such gigantic n really beneficial project going to waste... D one along d road from Okigwe to Owerri even seemed to b something about to b completed, while d one along Port Harcourt road, Obinze was kinda still being constructed

If only he can complete some of them b4 leaving

In all fairness to Rochas, I think you are gradually losing it! I often come home. Rochas has ongoing projects scattered across Ehime Mbano and Mbaise. My fear is that he may not be able to complete all.

I won't beg you to be objective in your assessment of that man because I know you won't...I am only worried about people whose opinions are shaped by what they read on this thread.

Tl,dr: Rochas has ongoing projects scattered across the state but he seems to concentrate more in Owerri

I dont insult people as insulting or using abusive words on people you dont know shows who you're and level of maturity. Meanwhile check the 1st page of this thread and purpose of creation. Everything on this thread is all about Government achievements and display of Government infrastructural projects so to enable those in diaspora know what's happening in their state. Meanwhile where is Abagworo ( Rochas paid Nairaland promoter) He even changed his name to Imo1stSon and since the erecting of Zuma Status, Abagworo is no where to be found. Please show us if you are among Rochas Imo must be Better, Roads, Schools, Hospitals, Real estates, and others. Meanwhile we need current level of Okigwe, Orlu Road, MCC, Chukwuma Nwaoha, Orlu, Okigwe and other township roads.

Has the Umuguma-worldbank road been completed? I just hope the extended that road to avu and okuku through orieokwu market.
Also the specialist hospital road they destroyed hope they are repairing it too.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by kikake: 4:33pm On Nov 02, 2017
Watched a most recent twenty minutes documentary on Okorocha's achievement in Imo state.

Every infrastructure development showed in the twenty minutes are in Owerri, with Owerri local music as background music of the entire documentary. A few seconds to the end, a paved road was shown and said "this is Orlu." End.

But Owerri capital territory is less than 5% of Imo state;
so, what is in the mindset of people governing today's Imo state? Are we in Owerri State?
