My mother right now is sick, shes suffering from Hi blood pressure, Internal heat and Nerves pain , shes 46years old ,shes done some test at some hospitals both at govt and private hospitals at the end they only gave her drugs such as adomet and antibiotics. still till today , they cant profer a solution to her ailment. so please doctors on Nairaland i need your advice on whats best for a patient like her to do. Are there women who are in such conditions or have been through such conditions, please come share with us on here . how u were able to get yours solved we need advise both from Health experts and formers patients, Pls we look forward to your views and contributions Thankyou |

Intermittent fasting solved my high blood pressure. I tried it for a month and it worked  What I did was stop eating by 9p.m, then ate again around 2p.m the next day so basically just skipping breakfast. I have no idea how or why it worked  Your mum can also try some light exercise. Is she overweight? |

I am not a doctor but i have lived with hbp for 7years now. I exercise regularly and eat balance diet take my medications by the grace of God i do not have any problems. I wish your mom the best. |

High BP, goes hand in hand with insomnia. Your mum is dehydrated, make sure there is a concerted effort to get her hydrated. The adult human body requires average of 3.7 litres per day. Make sure she meets that requirement. Then follow doctors prescription. If not, she might experience serious heat from the spine, sleeplessness etc that's the precursor to a more dangerous stage. |

Your mother has no business asking for advice on NL. I advise you to take her to a cardiologist at once.All the symptoms you have described are the same - hypertension. Not all drugs work in the same way for everyone. So if the adomet is not working they should get her changed to another drug urgently. In case you are wondering, yes I have had high blood pressure and I am speaking from experience. A highly expensive drug that an inexperienced public hospital doctor first prescribed (along with sleeping pills - she thought I had mental problem) only made it worse and quite nearly killed me, until a cardiologist took over. What is the use of the antibiotic ?It doesn't just make sense. Most importantly , you should find the root cause of her stress and remove her from it.For women, worry is often the greatest culprit otherwise weight problem.A competent cardiologist should advise better ; not teenagers and inexperienced doctors on NL. Time is essential before her system , especially kidneys,suffers a collapse. 6 Likes |

Rehydration reduces "heat from the spine"- what is heat from the spine? |

hbp has no direct curing drugs! Your mother worry soo much about something! You must make sure she dosn't have to be reminded or keep over thinking of it. Good medication happiness, good excercise,Adequate rest can help too well! There was one woman that was suffering it, she was hospilized sverally but it keep getting worse such that she do not know her helf sometimes and do not even respond to greetings.she was overthing about her children who keep breaking her heart. But with the help of my own mother and God she is now fine and healthy.my mother is such that will always make one laugh, she visits her all night, they would gossip till around 11pm every day, smilling and laughing out loudly sometines as if there is no tommorrow. They do it turn by turn this week will visit next week my mother will vist. For like two yrs, the hbp woman came bck again and healthy.Please you need a cheerful person as a friend to your mother who can always make her laugh and remember that when you laugh you forget your truoubles and feel for some time that life can really be sweet!! 1 Like |

Any specialist hospital on cardiology will treat her.other ways she can help herself-exercise regularly,eat plenty of fruits,vegies nd proteins,stop worrying and start laughing in d face of problems,its only ephemeral...i wish her speedy recovery IJN |

Nice advices from this experienced dudes,its a good thing to get a specialist,its another to get the medications,there is nothing to panic about.get her to a doc,and get some new drugs for mum(there are some perfect combination therapy for HBP). |

As a medical doctor, this is my advice. . . . . 1. Hypertension is not something to be toyed with. 2. If u love ur Mum, leave Nairaland briefly and take her to a Specialist Hospital. 3. Or a Teaching Hospital 4. Ask to see a CARDIOLOGIST. 5. he will examine ur mum, prescribe d appropriate drugs, and advise her on what to do, and what to avoid. 6. what u call " internal heat " and " nerve pain ", are all connected wif hypertension. 7. It will all come down to her diet, and exercise. I can honestly tell you that there isn't any amount of drug prescribed to her that can cure High blood pressure. Practicing a healthy lifestyle is the only solution. And tell her to stop stressing out so much, its not good for the body. |

Brother, I saw ur case and I felt like God led you to me; I suffer from a case of high blood pressure despite the fact I'm way younger than your mom..... My mom is a doctor and she gave me the drug "diazepam". Please give it to your mom and tell her to take one daily. It worked like magix for me... Does she get headaches? And burning sensation?? Please try the diazepam! Its a prescription drug. If you find it difficult to get it, send me an email and I'll see how I can get some to you free of any charge!! If you are in lagos, I can give u my adress... Pls just try this drug!! Come back to nairaland and give testimonies. I'd recommend she checks her blood cholesterol level, malaria and other small small test!! Send me the result and I promise I'd also give u feed back after I table your case to my mom!!! Thinking allowed WHY WILL HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE REQUIRE : SPECIALIST HOSPITAL? ARE THERE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE HOSPITALS OR SOMETHING shouldn't a qualified medical doctor be able to 'treat' a patient for high bp? all this look for a cardiologist, go to specialist etc etc the dude already too her to private and general hospital, na wa o @PLAY P, I DONT THINK ITS ADVISABLE TO RECOMMEND A DRUG, THAT WORKING FOR YOU TO SOMEONE ELSE, YOU DONT KNOW HER WEIGHT, HER HEALTH HISTORY ETC ETC the dude might be looking all over for the medication now |

At 46 years of age? Aaaargghh!!! Your mother needs to get active . . fast. In Africa, a high number of people who suffer heart problems are either overweight, over-stressed or both. Rarely hereditary. So I am going to guess your mum is overweight, probably 30lbs overweight. I would advice change of diet . .. eat less heart clogging oils, more fruits,vegetables, whole grains, and add more exercise to daily activity. At least one more hour to start with. Exercise is not only great for managing the weight but also stress. |

Dis Guy: Thinking allowedHypertension is a very serious disease and as such requires a specialist to manage. Yes, a general practioner can treat hypertension, but if there is someone who can treat hypertension better, that person is a cardiologist. |

People, eating fresh garlic will help lower your blood pressure. Though it tastes awful, but it sure works. Please dont mix it with your medications. Also you can drink tea with no sugar or milk daily, this will help you release excess water in the body that is constricting the arteries. All these with simple exercise like walking will help her. This has worked for me. |

Ermmmm......Personally, From the little you have given as the history, I think your mom could have the following; 1.Hypertension, along with hot flashes considering her age. She just needs Diuretics and Beta blockers to help with the HBP......As for the Hot flashes, she can see a doctor for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) 2.Hypertension, along with Fibromyalgia.........The later still needs further assessment and history from your mom......like if she has any trouble sleeping..... I want to advise you to avoid any form of self presciption.....Most importantly, DO NOT GIVE OR PRESCRIPE DIAZEPAM to ur mom for hypertension. That drug has a different use and is not recommended for hypertension as someone above said. For the hypertension, your mom can adjust her lifestyle to include, reduce dietary salt intake, regular exercise and weight reduction, garlic has been postulated to proffer some effects on blood vessels in reducing hypertension. For further information, do visit a physician for consultation........Wishing your mom great health and I'm sure God will heal her. |

playah P: Brother, I saw ur case and I felt like God led you to me; I suffer from a case of high blood pressure despite the fact I'm way younger than your mom..... please do not follow this advice for several reasons 1. diazepam is an antidepressant,anti anxiety, used for insomnia and sometimes could be used for nerve pain as in pre -op.., repeat and repeat again it is not used to treat High BP. 2. Nerve pain can be a result of several factors: but generally medications like gabapentin, lyrica, lidocaine, capsacian ointments and some antidepresants such as alprazolam, clonazepam or diazepam ( all these could be adictive ). Her nerve pain could be as a result of diabetes, or shingles ( herpes virus - in simple language). Her internal heat can be the result of menopause, thyroid imbalance, depression etc.,., she definitely need to see these specialists 1. internal medicine - internal heat - thyroid, depression 2. OBgyn - internal heat to check menopuase 3. neurologist - for nerve pain 4. Cardiologist.- for High BP please do not repeat go to a general physician. |

HBP is not a death sentence so u need to relax & allow the doctor do his job. When ur mum is done with d aldomet prescription let her go back to th doc. At this initial stage d doc is tryin to get the best drug suited for her. Remember people differ. Hopping from one doc to another isnt the best as treatment protocols are the same. Life style changes may be required. Your mum should be active. Do some excercises. Brisk walking, dancing are little but help. Eat balanced diet. Check bp once in a while. Pray. |
