Hi people, I’m sure the first part of this post has been well digested and I’m hoping most of You have purchased the best blush type to suit Your skin tone.

To apply Your blush, You want to make sure You have the right applicators which are the blush brush for powder blush and the sponge for cream and gel blushes. A quality blush brush is the best choice, never use a small, cheap brush. If you do, You’ll have a cheap looking result. Avoid makeshift items such as cotton wool balls or powder puffs as these do not work well with the pigment in the blush.

BLUSH APPLICATION FOR DIFFERENT FACE SHAPES
No matter what colour of blush You are applying, Your face shape should always be a guide for application. You don’t want to apply the blush on the wrong angle just because someone else applied theirs there.

We have different face shapes, for some of us that aren’t aware but the most common are the Oval, Round, square and Oblong face.
First things first, identify the kind of face You have by pinning Your hair to the back in front of a mirror and take note of all the angles and also where Your cheek bone is located.

Oval Face:- This face type typically does not need any contouring at all since the natural slope of the face already provides a perfect plane to apply blush. For a natural look, apply blush onto the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow. If you are going out at night, add slightly more blush to the bridge of your nose for extra colour.

Square Face:- For this face shape, soften the angles of cheeks by concentrating the brighter colour of the blush on the apples of the cheeks, then sweep the colour straight out towards your temples. This will give your face a natural lift. If you want to round the corners of your jawline, lightly dust some blush from your chin to just below your ears.

Round Face:- Start applying blush to the area just above the apples of your cheeks and slightly blend forward to thin the face. Make sure not to get blush too close to your nose, otherwise, the extra colour will highlight the rounded area of the cheeks. Next, dust the contour shade just below the cheekbone down to the jawline and blend the colour so it looks natural.

Oblong Face:- To create the illusion of width on a long-shaped face, apply blush to the apples of the cheeks and extend the colour outward towards your ears. Next, sweep your blush across the middle of your forehead and along your chin line.

EXTRA TIPS
- Prior to application, provide for a well lit space when adding your blush. Consider obtaining a lighted makeup mirror which will help emphasise your features and clarify what you are doing.
- If you’re planning to wear full makeup, don’t apply blush until the rest of your face is complete.
- If you’re using a powder, lightly sweep a medium-sized fluffy brush through the blush and then tap it to remove any excess. If you’re using a cream or gel, dab a little on your ring finger before applying to the face.
- Start with just a little blush. It’s easier to add more to your face than to take off too much of it.
- Do a fish face, and apply the blush. This helps you find the apple of your cheeks. Don’t smile, that’ll bring your cheeks up, and can make your blush too low
- The apples are the round rises where you naturally flush, as shown where the models blush is resting.
- Apply the blush to the centre of the apple on one side of your face, blending the colour along your cheekbone. If you’re using a cream or gel, dot the colour first, then use your finger or a makeup sponge to blend it in. For the most natural look, always concentrate the colour on the apples of your cheeks and blend well. And before blending, always dust off the excess to avoid excessively rosy cheeks.
- If you accidentally apply too much powdered blush, cover it with translucent powder to tame the colour. Excess cream can be blotted with a tissue. If you overdo it with a gel, wash it off and reapply sparingly.
- At the end of your blush application, dust your face with a translucent powder to set your new look. The translucent powder brings inner warmth into the cheeks.

…..and that’s it on blush application, I hope I was of great help to those of You having issues with applying blush The pictures below should also help as a template when You’re trying out the application. Thanks a lot for reading through, please leave a comment and also ask questions on anything you don’t understand and I’ll be glad to explain better.
