Gbawe: Jarus and OAM4J, there are some good non-Nigerians here. They are contributory members of Nairaland also. Why not include at least one of them , in a show of positive discrimination, to foster unity , provide a 'balanced' and inclusiveness panel of judges plus aid the concept of involving some who can be totally neutral and optimally useful regarding some debates?

Remember that a Briton or Argentinian will never be chosen to referee a Soccer game between Britain and Argentina. That concept shows we should have at least 1 or 2 non-Nigerian Nairalanders as judges who can always choose to opt out of things they don't know much about but can prove very decisive in issues Nigerians may be too passionate or biased about.

For example, I am connected with Ghana through familial association but not to the extent of taking sides. My Ghanaian friends therefore appreciate my neutral opinion regarding what I think of the NDC and NPP (our own PDP and ACN).

Whatever the mods do, they should be sure not to pick that Ghanaian tout called Smooth Criminal who sings that annoying tone "Only Ghanaian rule can save West Africa!!!". Annoying dolt, he is.

Well-done Shymexx. Good for Nairalanders to speak when processes like this take place that can enhance our usage of this forum and make it more generally productive as an arena of ideas. I totally forgot PhysicsQED and Sky-blue. I don't know Afro-Blue well enough but your choice of PhysicsQED and Sky-blue is very sound in my opinion.

Jarus can you include these three names shymexx has suggested? It is about judges having little or no objections to their candidacy and I urge Nairalanders to get involved so that we get worthy Judges and not bigoted/sectional/controversial/subversive/divisive characters tainting processes and continuing the 'agbero' trend that has driven many away from this forum.

I think we can look at creating a separate list for non-Nigerian Nairalanders who are civil plus make intelligent contributions here. That way, we can ensure 2 or ,at the very least, 1 out of 10 Judges will be non-Nigerian on a forum many Africans use.

Nominate non-Nigerians too. State nationality in your nomination.

The coordinators(mods) are noting the reservations on/endorsements of the nominated judges. By Wednesday, we shall release the final list based on the reservations/endorsements and our enlightened discretion.

Non-Nigerians. I nominate Bennyboy and Akwasi. Will add more names if I remember them.

They are Ghanaian Nairalanders.

Kilode has never affiliated with any political party. Not saying there is anything wrong with that but your choice of words do not fit his person. You refer to supporters of another political party as goons, when you yourself are a supporter of PDP/GEJ and yet you illogically referred to yourself as a good choice.
Re: NL Monthly Political Debate by Katsumoto: 7:12pm On Oct 08, 2012
Jarus: OAM4J et al,

Can we look at having a pool of 10 standing judges? For any debate, we just pick 5 based on availability, non-connectedness to the topic, expertise on the subject etc.

Akanbi_edu: I support Jarus' idea of having a pool of judges, selected based on availability, interest, and discretion of the organizer. I also suggest that debaters should be nominated based on the topic at hand. For example a debate like "ACN is better than PDP- true or false" should have posters like Gbawe,Beaf etc as debaters while another one on "Awolowo- Hero or villian" should have katsumoto,dede1 etc as debaters. The main point I am trying to make is that debaters should consist of those whose side they are, is popularly known while judges should be those whose side they are, is hardly known(Though they have).

Excellent

Man mi, don't waste your time with the ever irreverent and divisive PointB. He cannot help himself. Imagine referring to to another poster disrespectfully as "Gbawe's boy" as a way to prjudice opinion against said poster, yet he is nominating himself. If if anybody should be referred to derogatorily as anyone's "boy" here.

The guy can start a fight in an empty bar room. That is how pugnacious he is. Anyway many have objected to him being a Judge and I rule him out also. Simply too abrasive, totally in decorum and virtually incapable of adopting the concept of respecting others. Everyone he voted against was on the basis of prejudice and this is why he votes against Kilode you even note does not affiliate himself partisanly always.

Judges should simply be Nairalanders who have always stood for what is right, have shown a passionate sense of equity and fairness plus generally speak always as if they see Nigeria. Judges should come from all ethnic groups. They may have flaws but they must not , on Nairaland, be those guilty of casual discrimination against others, unsolicited rudeness towards others and divisive hatred of fellow Nairalanders on grounds of ethnicity, gender, religion.

Why did you not direct your 'pettiness' at him? Because he is Igbo like you?

Na wa oo. What concerns you with the institution of Eze Ndi Igbo on Nairaland. I dont get the fixation of an adult on a supposedly 'ridiculous' election. Was your ox gored by the election? If even minimally bright you will realise you goofed to show who is fixated with who when you wanted to prejudice opinion by labelling a poster "Gbawe's boy".
