A REAL MAN OF GOD CANNOT BE SOLDIER

Really a controversial topic. In my own opinion, I don't think it's wrong for a born again christian to be a soldier. Being in the force is an occupation and a call to protect ones nation as a serviceman.

God is against laziness. For a lazy man to be wise, he needs to observe the life pattern of the ants as a typical example. The ants are so industrious workers whose diligence and industriousness not only provides for its presence but also help prepares for the future. If an ant could toil to feed then nothing stops a born again from working regardless of the nature of the job as long as it doesn't negates the law of a country or the word of God.

Furthermore, Scripture says if a man does not work he should not eat, 2 Thessalonians 3:10 God will not feed you physically or spiritual without your own exerted effort.

With the aforementioned, a born again christian can be a soldier.

The other day a born again soldier was sent on a secret mission to kill a number of people in a community by his superiors. He followed orders and wiped out almost all the men in one community while his comrades raped the women all because he was obeying the last order which was an oath he had sworn (TO MAN)

As a military man u have no rights to question authority even if your superior is an evil person with secret selfish reasons for attacking other nations as it is with the US. Riddle me this: is it justified to see beyond your spiritual brotherly bond and shoot another born again christian in the head because he wears a different uniform and supports different ideals. Of course, that's one of the 10 commandments I learnt while I was growing up as child. So are you saying because the Bible says thou shall not kill, then a born again christian is forbidden of being a soldier? To state with definite clarity that a born again christian can be a soldier; evidences abounds in the Bible where nations rises against one another, and the Israelites who were chosen heirs of God aren't an exemption from this, yet God was with them and gave their enemies into their hands on several occasions.

If you are of the opinion that because God said that shall not kill, then a born again christian is forbidden of being a soldier, then you might as well said, a born again christian is forbidden of being a politician. For all I know, there is no any iota of godly wisdom in both the former and the latter, so get your facts right bro.

Fighting of war is not just a new thing, it happened thousands of years even before the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus also forewarned us of the end time signs; false prophets, false teachings, false signs and false miracles in which wars are no exemption. A Christian (follower of Christ) has no business killing another person, so can't be a combatant. Christ was the fulfillment of the Law of Moses, so the wars David, Saul, etc fought to protect Israel then are not required. Christ did away with all that.

There's no record that Jesus or his Apostles joined in fighting the Roman opression they were under at the time. History shows the early Christians did not fight wars or kill.

Where in the Bible are Christians commanded to sign " to defend, and die for your nation against any external aggression"? Christians are commanded to love each other and not to kill. Warring leads to the real possibility of killing fellow Christians worshipping same God. Which is supposed to be stronger - love of nation or love of God? There is no scriptural basis that it's ok for Christians to kill as soldiers.

there is nothing wrong with being a soldier. Every Christian ought to be a soldier as it were. but like in all professions, the Christian's actions, inactions and decisions should be guided/led by God. A Christian soldier should not be oppressive or fight a wrong cause. every Christian has a mandate to disobey ungodly orders, whether you're a soldier or a pope.
