The Kano State Government has released N1.7 billion for the payment of ram bonus to its civil servants to celebrate Sallah. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bonus was introduced by the Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso administration to assist civil servants in the state. A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Garba Inusa, said that the money had been released to ministries, departments and agencies for onward disbursement. What makes some governors in the south to spend millions on Hajj and pilgrimage to Isreal is what is making their counterparts in the north to spend such a huge amount on ram. It is a national embarrassment. |

This is never out of the way in a state heavily populated and dominated by Muslims as Kano state. A state where Islam has a lot of impact in government decision making process. The same way a South Eastern states of Delta etc would be justified packaging a similar lagesse for the Christian faithfuls. A kind of balance you are asking for is only sensible in South Western states of Oyo, Osun etc where there is a kind of balance. 1 Like |
