Larry-Sun: Started posting the sequel already? Damn, I better hurry and finish "The Brand of Cain" so I can follow The Sequel as it's posted. . . By the way, how far have you gone with your quest to publish "The Brand Of Cain"? |

I saw the write up on Abel, before I came across this thread. I am just on Chapter 2, but I love what I have read so far. Keep the good job up my guy. As per publishing, well, u might need to consider self publishing. |

Hi Larry, I posted your the brand of cain on to my mailing group, and here is what one of my people said. Good mrg Olulu, I know it's too early for dis but I didnt sleep till like 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to google for The Brand of Cain by Larry-Sun. Unfortunately, it stopped @ chpt. 9 on nairaland site! Is there a way that I can/cld order for the whole manuscript or something? Even if it's photocopy!? I will pay Thanks and pls reply oh! Majekodunmi .O.A I am sure with what you have done so far, marketing your book should not be too hard. Besides, I know some peeps involved in books that can help with marketing. I can connect you with them, and help in my own little way, if u are game. Being a while that I have bought a Nigerian novel, but I will make an exception for yours. So, no dulling. get self published. Stop waiting for publisher(s), sometimes you have to make that first move. sent u a mail, reply, if u are interested. |

Thanks Olulu. The mail is blank...perhaps because we weren't on following terms. Now, that I'm following you, I'll be able to read it. Kindly resend the mail. We have some things to discuss. |

my email is olulu4ever@gmail.com Just send me a mail. We will see what we can do to help out. I am not a publisher o, but i can relate to your issue. esp as I am also a writer, but more of a Spoken Word Poet. So in my course of organizing and performing at shows/ events I meet a lot of literary people. Thus the least i can do is to introduce you to them, and help in any other little way that i can. |

Hmm i'm through today! I thought i will be the last person to finished the brand of Cain because i'm very lazy at readin (thoug i used my cell phone thorough out). Congratulations to Larry cos you had already made it (I can't wait to see me with a copy of your published novel). I even wanted to tell my friend about the whole novel, but i don't know where to start from lol. I feel like a camera man while reading cos i did not jump a single line. Hmm my little words can not express my happiness right now, it always happens to me; i don't know how to express myself. BRILLIANT |

WOW! WOW! WOW! ![]() Just finished the novel like 5 minutes ago and all I'll say is "awesome and close to a masterpiece" The plot was "tight" with it's many twists & turns. All loose ends were neatly tied up without actually being tied firmly. . .the reason for the sequel. Obviously, a lot of research went into your writing of this book and it didn't all emanate from the brain. Still, I couldn't help feeling some of the settings, language and mannerism of Also, quite a few grammatical errors and typos but I guess the editing and proof-reading will take care of that. All in all, a very interesting and brilliant novel. To SMS, THE BRAND OF CAIN IS THE BEST LITERARY WORK I'VE READ BY A NLDer and I'm glad I voted for you in the poll. Holla at me when it's published cos I'll definitely cop a copy. On to the next one - The Paradox of Abel Lest I forget. . .Larry, you sabi English o ![]() |
| Re: The Brand Of Cain (A Complete Novel) by Larry-Sun(m): 9:53pm On Dec 28, 2012 |
Thank you so much, Semid. I'm glad you finally finished it, and I'm sure you're not disappointed ![]() About the mannerism of the characters...I purposely decided to create characters that aren't whose acts aren't much like those of the average Nigerians. Truth be told, the settings I employed were mostly imaginary, but with factual names...I've never been to Jos neither am I sure if there really is Alexandria Avenue in Lagos. I didn't travel to Ikeja or V.I to find a befitting locality for my novel...I mostly stayed in my room and Googled some facts which I used to my merit. And, the plottings came from the brain, except of course, that from Othello...which is one of my favourite shakespeare plays (including Comedy Of Errors very funny play). My over-description stemmed from my bid in trying to convince the readers about the originality and existence of the settings, mostly to the non-Nigerians. I'm sure the editors will be kind enough to modify the shortcomings. The typos and grammatical errors show that even writers have their moments of weakness, that's why professional editors are always there to cover up our errors. Without them, we are all but far from perfection. Thanks for the vote, too. God be with you. Sure, you're the first person I'll contact as soon as the sauce is done. Kindly drop your e-mail address. P.S: I shall be very slow in my updates over the sequel...I won't rush it as I did BRAND...please bear with me. Bless you, sir. L.S. |

I will start by voting the Brand of cain as a better name than the Household,, then I should move over to your plots and story settings and I must say that I can comfortably equate it with Dan Brown's lost symbol,, chai, oboy, when, Hakeem was blowing all those vocs, I was a bit jealous o, a boy of 14, chineke m o!!!. Though I'm not much of a critic, but I agree with the expendable explanations, it could have been quite unoticed if you'd included the listeners behaviours like someone pointed out,,,..mehn, if I could write like you then I'm a writer!!..my middle finger abi na thumbs up!!!, |

Whoooooooo!a poster wrote that u reminded him of John Grisham, naaah u reminded me of James Patterson.See twist and turn, suspense, dialogue aaaaah.Larry u are gonna be a great international writer, take it from me infact take it to the bank.....but take notes of the following: 1.Glorification of molestation-3 of ur characters Molested,in my opinion that is too much and u are one-sided about it in ur writeup. 2.I don't remember d last time I read and am checking my dictionary,it seems to me u re showing off coz toward the last few chapters it kind of reduced. 3.Ur strong point is ur attentin to details but u re overdetailizing and double detailizing while under detailizing some characters pardon my grammar. 4.Art is an imitation of life-but there are some part I ll read and I can't stop wondering Nigeria? eeeeehn? it just seems unreal. As ur first novel I doff my hat infact am standing to give loud ovation.I never regretted reading this. Thanks |
