first off in the bottom right hand corner
of your computer if you see alot of
icons start up there when you first start
your computer then this is for you if
you dont know already how to get rid
of em. Press your Start Button (bottom left)
and go to "run"
now type in: msconfig
now you will get a box that pops up
and will tell you bunch of stuff dont
mess with anything else other than what I tell you otherwise you could do
something really bad (possible) go to
your "startup" tab on the top right of
the screen where it usually is and click
it. Now you will have a closed in box with
bunch of filenames n addresses and
more boxes with checks in them. Now
if your like me you dont want anything
startin up when you start you computer
up or while your even doing anything cause it slows you down. Now unless
your like me right now 1 have 1 thing
starting up when my computer starts
up and thats my settin for my
overclocked vid card. But other than
that uncheck every box and then hit apply and ok. Then window you were
jus in will now close and ask you if you
want to restart or wait till later to restart. Either way when you shut it off and
then turn it back on the settins will kick
in

What if that does not work, Stopping all running program does not necessarily make your computer fast, especially if the ram has been due for replacement.
There are other reason why your computer could be slow, apart from multiple program running at the same time.

Your computer could be slow as a result of ram limitation, this some time might result to your computer crashed almost immediately if you try to open multiple windows at the same time.
Solution: Replaced the ram, before then check the computer specification and get to know the maximum size of ram you computer can work with at a time to avoid a blue screen if you replace it with a higher ram recommended for your computer. The best way to know is go =Control Panel-->System and security-->Security then you will see install memory ram, that will tell you what you currently have and what you are using. You can also get there if you are using Window Visa, 7 or 8 by just typing "system" on your start menu bar, then you double click system.

Window Defender:
Another things is if Window Defender could slow your computer down if you dont have it install. So install window defender

Anti Virus: You computer can become slow as a result of expired antivirus so if your antivirus is expired, you will either renew or download free antivirus here from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials

Firewall:
These also could after your computer so get your window firewall checked on your computer to enable you go to many website as possible. Remember every valid windows operating system has Firewall, all you need to do is activate it and some time it could slow your computer down in going to some website or downloading some program, at this time you will either uncheck or check it depending on your need.

Virus: Lastly if your computer is infected with any virus or worm, it could slow your computer down and no amount of unchecking current window start up running program can undo the changes. You will either have to reformat your computer or use a good anti virus detector and if your computer is seriously infected, you will have to do it on safe mode or load/boot onto the program directly so you can take effective control.
