If you require a remote key fob with 2 or 3 button fob, these are generally in stock. All keys for Peugeot since 1995 have a transponder chip and need to be coded or programmed to the car. A 4 digit pin code is required for the key or the remote fob to be programmed. The 4 digit pin code is found on the security card that is supplied by the dealer when the car is purchased. If you do not have the security code we can purchase it on your behalf at a cost of £20. In order to do this, we need the Vin number/chassis number which is located on the V5/log book. Transponders

From approximately 1995, Peugeot began to use a transponder chip for the immobiliser system within their key fobs – although not right across their whole range. If your Peugeot vehicle has an immobiliser keypad installed, then it does not use the transponder chip system.

The transponder chip contains a code which corresponds with the ignition system in the vehicle. Without it, the vehicle will not start. Even though the engine may turn, it will not fire up.

The system works basically as follows: Once you insert your key into the ignition and turn, the ECU (your vehicle’s computer) interrogates the transponder chip within your key fob. If it transmits the correct code, the ECU will allow the vehicle to start – otherwise the vehicle will remain immobilised.

Security Card

Every new Peugeot vehicle using this system is supplied with a security code card (credit card sized) in case you should need new keys. The code itself cannot be used to program new keys but allows access to the vehicle’s immobiliser system so that new keys can be programmed to it. Programming the transponder chip requires the specialist equipment. It is advisable to not leave the card in the glove compartment as this is vital information if you lose the keys to your car.

If you would like a Peugeot 206 key replacement from 2001, the remote has changed to a two button remote key fob. Programming a 206 key fob has to be done with any other fobs that you have otherwise programming Peugeot 206 keys will be necessary. If need be, you can have just the Peugeot fob reprogrammed if the signal fails to program plips, fobs, or keys on this model. Then the Peugeot 206 new key code is required.
