Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by looking4u: 10:05pm On Mar 01, 2013
If u have been posted to taraba pls have no fear...I can tell u categorically that taraba state is relatively save. My name is emmanuel...a batch c corp member 2012 still on active service in taraba. The truth is d distance from wherever u might be coming from is far except those coming from yola...and one other tyn d sun in taraba state is extremely hot except for those who might be eventually posted to gembu wia d temperature is close to freezin level. When u get to camp here re tyns u shld do n shldnt do...pls take note of this as I outline them.
One, early arrival to camp is necessary, this will enable u get a better space n block to rest ur head at night...
Two, d food prepared for corp members is nothing to write home abt...except u hav few change on u, u can only manage. And if u hav some change on u, then patronise iya ijesha n mama chidera food canteen at d mammy...dey re d best
Three: try as much as u can to play active role in ur platoon, if u re nt lucky to be d platoon leader then see what u can do to be one of the elders...because in d long run durin postin u might get a place of ur choice
Four: this is for those who intend to relocate...I am nt sayin u shldnt bt I won't advice u to. Those of my batch who did, most regreted it till date. I will advice dt u see what u can do to manipulate to postin within d state to a better place. Places like jalingo, wukari, takum re d three best place as far as taraba is concern. I am presently in takum serving. And dis posting arrangement starts in d camp d second week of ur camping...so b at alert.
Five: be very close to ur platoon officers, dey can manipulate tyns for u
Six: mind d way u spend ur moni in camp cos u will need more durin ur last week in camp n wen u re goin to wia u ve been posted. D distance between towns in taraba re far...sometimes u might spend 4-5hrs travelin within d state or even more
Seven: pls for more information or contacts of those camp nysc official who can make tyns work for u call me on 09097359955, my pin 2983e364. I shall be willing to provide u with any information

Omo! This thing still they do me like dream.
Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by looking4u: 11:14pm On Mar 01, 2013
OBS is very much owk but to be part of it...due to d rush, interested corp members undergoes a selection process n at d end only a selected few re picked. But if u re lucky, then count urself free from d scoutching sun at d parade ground evry murwin n afternoon. That is one place u dnt wanna be in d afternoon...ur first week in camp will b hell, pls secure ur luggages n personal effects well. D guys u better get use to shot put in d bush...for ur health don't use d camp toilets. I ws d platoon leader during my own days in camp...pls do nt hesitate to ping or call me on 2983e364 or 09097359955. I shall b in jalingo n d camp soon...catch fun n stop fitgeting abt TR afterall it is natures gift to U
Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by outrage: 11:21pm On Mar 01, 2013
Tha fck.. Short put!!
This is turing out worse than I expected. Wwhats the criteria for OBS selection?
The camp lively?
Did your platoon commander status help in ur PPA placement?
Why do you say your friends that redeployed regret it?
Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by emmaxin: 11:50pm On Mar 01, 2013

You don't regret shut puting? Smh
Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by looking4u: 6:43am On Mar 02, 2013
Majority of those who redeployed were posted to dia state of origin...only 2% made it elsewia other than dia choice of state.
To successfully selected for OBS, u must portray a friendly attitude as soon as u step into d camp, be a regular face at d obs office n help out in any duty even witot been told. You must b very good with words n must b outspoken n most importantly well dress in ur white kits. Wit obs, if u re lucky to b part of it, u will be exempted most time from d regorious activities in d camp like lecture period..
Been d platoon leader helped me a lot in influencing lots of tyn n I am still influencing. I am a constant visitor at d state secretariat.

How do I get to camp from ilorin?
Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by designfemi(m): 10:43am On Mar 04, 2013
You Guys are welcome to Government Colledge, Jalingo, Taraba( The Almighty Reign And Blesses Abundantly) state. You guy must sure have heard so many stories, but am telling you that Jalingo is one of the best statee to be in NIGERIA. Am a serving corper in Jalingo and it had ben fun all the way. I want you to know that not all of you will be lucky to gt rdeployment no matter how highly connected you are, so be careful with what you will be declaring aboout the state (there is power in the tongue you know).
If you are coming from the west, th best and the shortest rute is coming through Benue( Not ggoing through Abuja or Jos). Makurdi to jalingo is 6hrs, Jos to Jalingo is 8hrs and Abuja to jalingo is 10hrs.

Everything you need will be available in camp, but do your best to Identify with the NCCF, I am a living witness that its the best and smartst thing to do.

This is my number,08068494462, I could be of help.

Welcome again to serving fatherland.

abbyyzino: How do I get to camp from ilorin?

From Ilorin, get to Benue links park and move to markurdi (thats the shortest), then from there to Jalingo (2K)

I served in Jalingo in 2005/2006 set and it was fun. when we entered camp, we heard stories like there was a local Govt. called snake island where they post corpers. After everything there was none like that. I served in Jalingo, in the Ministry of justice Library. Then In Jalingo the main problem there was light. A state capital where you can hardly see light, even if PHCN manage to bring light, na one hour the thing go stay. I remembered their round houses that we used to call 'Channel O' or 'Skirt and blouse' because of the mud house and the thatch roof. There underdevelopment is another issue. one major street, Hamarunna way is what the state capital can boost of.

Those days in camp and in Jalingo after camp were really fun. For intending corpers, please try and stick with your corp members and visit each other. If you arrive camp earlier there is National association of catholic corp (NACC) members to guide you. Also there is NCCF too. they can house you until camp opens. make sure you don't carry too much load to camp unless you intend not come back after camp. The food there at the camp was nothing to write home about. You can visit mammy market for your foods, then visit club zero one for your drinks and for familiarization. That is where you meet all those NYSC officials that can help you with your posting. You can also join in the camp football or platoon team. i think they are also given preference during practice. Try and stay in Takum (Enough yam dey there) Jalingo or wukari, Adokola is also near.

Enjoy your stay and welcome to the land of 'Baa Trunich" ( I don't understand English)
