Is It Proper To Reduce Your Age To Get a Job? by Pidivine: 7:46am On Nov 13, 2012
Is It Proper For Any Reason To Reduce Your Age To Get a job?

It has become a norm for job seekers to reduce their age(s) to secure jobs no thanks to employers of labour. Please do you think it is proper either as a christian or moslem?.

is NOT proper in any way, If the job is yours, it will surely come to you. don't try to be smarter than your GOD by fooling your employer.
Remember, " for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap " May God help us all.

In a case where ur WAEC Cert DOB(not ur fault) is different from ur real DOB. What wld u do? Saying ur true DOB is a lie to them and giving the false DOB in the cert is their truth. What wld u do?

Why would any prospective employer ask for age, isn't that discriminatory?

Ans to your question, NO it isn't proper. If I were a recruiter, I will fire you before you could even say "it was the devil". Lying to get a job is totally unacceptable, that's why I pity those who beef up their resume because when they find out, some sins aren't forgivable. Let alone a Christian, that a NO NO...Don't even think about it.

I wonder when god started to deputize as a recruitment agent. If he was so good in providing jobs for people, then how come there are so many jobless people in Nigeria then?!

@OP: No. If it's yours, then you will get it regardless of how old you are.

I am a true christian and will never reduce my age for any reason. If I am asked and I don't want to say it, I'd better keep quiet. But when it's important, such as applying for a job, I'll say it. My age is my age and it won't reduce.

You make this sound like the worst thing on earth. I'd rather take the risk that my employer may find out about my age at some point in the future, and then terminate my appointment based on that, than have my chances at a prospective job cut short despite having the necessary qualifications and experience, based on age. It is for the employer to find out and prove that I'm older than what i say i am.

Is it moral or ethical? Probably not, but it's a Jungle, man, and the bills have to be paid. It's not my fault i came into the world earlier than my potential employer would have preferred and i don't think i deserve to be punished for it.

Even besides religious belief, it's not worth is cos you'll still get found out.
It's unfortunate that some Nigerian employers openly discriminate on the basis of age but it still doesn't justify lying to get a job because there are still many other employers who don't.

If you do and later repent, you must go back to confess for you to be forgiven. Imagine making such confession when you have climbed the ladder of success and perhaps have become a public figure? Whatever a man sows, he shall surely reap. Sow lie and reap aboundant lie later in life, it's an immutable law of life.
