I decided to create this thread,in response to this thread:

https://www.nairaland.com/1100447/why-muslim-imams-not-buying

Muslim religious leaders do not buy private jets for the following some reasons:

1. The muslims do not have to pay tax to worship or attend mosque service.

2. Muslims do not have to affiliate themselves with a mosque the way a christian belong to a church.a christian is quick to direct you to "his church" or ask you where is "your church"? This sense of belonging to a name or building is what makes it easy for money making pastors to trap the unsuspecting.a muslim on the other hand prays anywhere and in any mosque.in fact a muslim is taught that the entire earth was created as a mega masjid (mosque).a masjid is a place of prostration to Allah (swt).so everywhere on earth a muslim can prostrate and worship God.

3.Pastors sell themselves and attract devoted followers by creating a cult following.they give themselves titles they cannot prove like "prophet" to claim a special position.in islam if any imam or preacher calls himself a prophet,he is doomed! After Muhammad (sa) there is no prophet!

4.Pastors claim spiritual powers.they use their "miracles" and breakthrough adverts to attrach a following.they make the christian feel the need to get closer to the pastor because he is "powerful".so with that,the pastor got a product he is selling to you and in that way you feel you need him and are indebted to him.your spiritual well-being depends on how good your "spiritual doctor" is.in islam the only "spiritual doctor" is Allah! Our imams (scholars) and preachers are teachers and can do nothing on their own.like Jesus (as) said in the bible:"on my own I can do nothing.as I hear I speak".our imams do not claim spiritual power or secrets to success.all that a muslim needs is thoroughly explained in the islamic religion.it is left for the individual to direct his efforts towards pleasing God to seek result and gain blessings.we individually can follow the religion without the interference of any man who is not chosen by God as His representative.we need no one to "speak in tongues" for us.of course the pastor claim to be "chosen" so they get the attention.yet they got no revealed book and no prophecy of past to back their coming and claims as for instance we find prophecies on Jesus (as) and Muhammad (sa) centuries before they were born.muslim scholars are not that fraudulent and don't claim lies against God.

5.There are rich muslim scholars in the islamic world and even in nigeria.they can afford private jets,at least some or a few of them.but the money they collect in form of zakat or khums make them have a sense of commitment toward God and those who entrusted them with their hard earned money.whatever they gain for their personal use is to ensure their survival and well-being without extravagance.they lead by example even if they can afford it.Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky in Zaria would think how to build affordable schools for muslim children and places of worship instead of buying a jet,even though Sheikh Zakzaky is by far the most popular muslim scholar in nigeria with arguably the largest following.Sheikh Ahmad Deedat (the man christians love to hate) is way more popular and effective in his knowledge than all of nigeria's pastors combined,yet he had no private jet.the scholars in Qom or Najaf would think of how to send the money they gather from muslims who donate, to the children of Gaza.and what about the starving people of Somalia? Take for instance the work of the Al-Khoei foundation.yes many of our top scholars in many parts of the world live comfortable lives but their lives are still very simple,modest and far from extravagance.

You don't have people dying from hunger while you use the two kobo you milked from them to ride private jet.it is very unfair and un-godly.you may say the pastors are already helping and doing good.well that may be true for some of them but the fact is with the level of poverty even in nigeria compared to their billions,more can be spent eliminating poverty than parking a private jet somewhere idle.if you need to fly in comfort,you can easily charter a plane instead of investing much in two or more jets you call your own for just parking in the run way.

6. Churches have become no different from companies run by businessmen.the pastors are operating business empires in selling religion.muslim scholars on the other hand do not even build mosques on their own individually talkless of turning the mosque into a market place and then striving to open branches and make more profit like the pastors do.

7.Muslims are taught against being caged by worldly desires and material things.this world is described in the Quran as the "yard of vanity" and the soul must be protected from going astray especially by falling prey to desires and vanity.there is no harm in enjoying your money or deriving halal pleasures.but leaders should lead by example and be very judicious in living and particularly spending money entrusted to them.

Islam lays down a clear path for everything a Muslim does that concerns religion. Thus scholars or preachers do not view the wealth of those that follow them as their own. In fact on the contrary this is what the Quran says;

"Say: "No reward do I ask of you: it is (all) in your interest: my reward is only due from Allah: And He is witness of all things" (34:47)

And anywhere there is cause for contributing wealth Islam stipulates precisely who the beneficiaries should be, lest any private jet owner wannabe thinks otherwise. The Quran explains this in many places, an example is...

"Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to Truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer: (thus is it) ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom." (9:60)
