Nigeria currently has broadband speeds at
an average of 2.73 Mbps which ranks the
country 138th globally and 13th in Africa,
according to Ookla, the global leader in
broadband testing and web-based network
diagnostic applications.
Back in March 2012, just about six months
ago, Nigeria ranked 129th in the world
and 9th in Africa in terms of broadband
download speeds.
Based on millions of recent test results
from its broadband speed testing service,
Speedtest.net, the company’s NetIndex
compares and ranks consumer download
speeds around the globe.
Here’s a list of the top 10 Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) in Nigeria based on
current broadband speeds with at least 100
tests in the current index, according
to Ookla’s NetIndex.
Ookla reports that these results were
obtained by analyzing test data between
Oct 14, 2012 and Nov 12, 2012. It also
noted that tests from 74,533 unique IPs
were taken in Nigeria and of 332,833 total
tests, 14,887 were used for the current
Index.
