MUM:She taught me to always strive for better results in everything I do,she also taught me to be honest,
She taught me that things will sometimes go wrong in life, that I just have to keep my focus on my future and not brood over what went wrong
Finaly to strive towards being a better husband to my wife and a wonderful father to my children

DAD
:I was raised by a single mum so I only knew my father from afar, but what I learnt from his life is that to be successful in life one must strive to have a reputation that is unassailable because one will always have enemies that will always try to haunt one down

Mum taught me to be humble and not be spontaneous when angry.

Dad taught me a lot.

Never borrow money you can't return.

Never cheat on your spouse

stop showing off

pay your Darned bills

your kids are important nd so is your wife

don't join a secret organisation

he taught me chess

and always have something that will keep you sane.

Don't be an alcoholic. Its bad from all angles

don't be a Hypocrite

don't be a religious bigot

respect your staff and those under you

More later.
And did I mention that yesterday marks a year that my dad passed on?

Mynd_44: Dad taught me a lot.
From what you wrote,I was just wondering if he taught you all that in person or you learnt from his lifestyle
And did I mention that yesterday marks a year that my dad passed on?
I am sorry for your loss

They taught me many things but I'll mention those that come to my mind first.

Mum: Never compare yourself to the worse but always to the better, only that way you'll become better. / Work comes before fun, first fulfill your duties, then enjoy yourself. / Self-discipline, Cleanliness, Cooking .... I could go on and on ...

Dad: Not to care about what other people say. / Some secrets about men grin / Not to trust easily. / To be strong, to work hard, to learn fast and to fight if necessary.

Mum always echo this statement to my hearing, not only me, but all my siblings inclusive
"iberu Oluwa ni ipinlese ogbon"
(d fear of God is d beginning of wisdom) this statement helps me in every aspect, anytime i want to do or say something to somebody, i always think if it God dt is involved first, and dt has really helped my relationship with everyone i come across either physically or online. I fear God so much, hence, my way of doing things, dts why it will be very difficult 4 me to initiate any form of fight.

I was wondering, you didnt make mention of him in your previos post, whao seems most fathers arent that responsible then, mine is alive but I have only seen him about six times my whole life. But I think one thing we learnt from them(fathers) is to be a more responsible parent.
All thesame,he was still your father,I'm sorry for your loss

This is so true.
It's a pity not to have a good father or mother but we can still make the best out of it. A bad experience can teach us more than a good one, at times. wink

MUM: she taught me to strive hard to bring up my children in a way that when they look back years later, they will always thank me. For being there always and never forget me even when i'm no more.
She taught me to punish my children not out of hatred but love and care so they can change 4 d best.
She taught me to deprive myself of food and material things if necessary so i can give the best of everything to my family.
She taught me how to get closer to God.
She taught me life isn't fair but you can make d best out of it if u put ur mind 2 it and with God ur backbone.
She taught how to be d best husband 2 my future wife, even when she care less. i can go on and on and on and on... But i dnt want my story 2 bore you.

DAD: although not very active i still learnt a few things 4rm him. One thing i did learn 4rm him is "Never produce kids if u ar not ready 2 cater 4 them and their mother" your kids might not 4give u.

Mom: be a strong independent woman, dont depend on a man for your happiness.

Dad: life is too short to always look for the bad in people, everyone has a good part and bad part, you just have to find it

Mum: *the unique things she taught me* She taught me Maths (even till date); how to use 'has' and 'have'; how not to depend on a man for anything; and she taught me how to understand 'sign language' like when she rolls her eyes to say 'don't collect it'. Lol.

Dad. One very important lesson i will never forget. He said don't you ever advice a friend to quit her relationship. Because she may hate you for it in future.
He also said be security conscious.

I believe he was talking from experience, either his or his friends.
But come to think of it,love is a delicate matter that if not handled properly, oone could be painted has enemy of the lovers, because if they make up again, one becomes center of criticism(she told me to leave you blah blah blah).
Also if at the end of the relationship,if their was any positive one of the lovers could have achieved had they not broken up,all the blame will be on the adviser for making him/her miss out of those chances

I was always advised never to tell a friend to end a relationship because in doing so you tend to tell the bad things about that person and when the two get back together they will remember the bad things you said about their partner. Bad idea.

And what kind of friend does that make you?.

I always tell my friends the truth even if it means I lose you as a friend. Lying to friends cos he might get mad is just petty

I tell my friends to leave their partners all the time. I dont give a fugg.. JK.. I think there is a difference between being dishonest with your friend and telling them bad junk just because they are mad at their partner.

@Sniper.... And Mynd_44. I think guys always understand the motive behind an advise. Ladies see and calculate the envy in it especially when the foregone partner becomes successful in future.

I rather tell a female friend 'just be prayerful, only God knows one's future spouse' than tell her 'Quit the relationship, it's not working'.
I no fit use ground pepper do brown powder. Jor o.

This falls back on maturity of your friends. If your friends are matured enough, they will realise that you have their interest but if they are immature, they will start telling that partner all you said and did in which case I will rather have that friend and partner go
