The problem is with Your recovery..... Update your recovery and you won't have that error

Guys my galaxy s3 international version is 4.1.2 . I want to update it to 4.4. Does rooting
And using a custom rom does almost same? Or should I update, root and use a custom rom?

I think you need to update ur recovery, also check that the zip file isn't damaged. Check the MD5 sum if it matches the one provided by the developer.

when I got mine sometime last year, it was running on 4.1 and I upgraded it to 4.3 via ota..didn't need any root just needed a good network with good signal and enough data..samsung doesn't release 4.4 for S3 though. unless you want to tweak your phone(which to me isn't really necessary if you upgrade to 4.3)

You can boot into download mode to know if it's cloned or original.

Flash custom recovery in Odin and then super su zip in Custom recovery. Hope at&t don't have locked bootloaders. I don't know about that, i hate branded phones and don't deal with them.
