vowiski: Not just time warner, but Best Buy, Wal-mart and Netflix. Everyone expects toshiba to pull the plug any moment from now. vowiski: Since when do YOu attach a link to claims? vowiski: i'm sorry, but since when did HD-DVD and xbox become linked together? most people buy an Xbox to play games and not to watch movies. Sure, PS3 has a built-in blu-ray player, but that's why it's more expensive. it's hard enough getting Nigerians to buy original DVDs. let's see how many Blu-ray discs Nigerians will buy. |

vowiski: good. So how does this translate into bad news for xbox 360 owners? |
Re: Toshiba Pulls Out Of Hd Dvd, Blue-ray Wins by vowiski(m): 5:15pm On Feb 18, 2008 |
bluray wins, ps3 built in bluray player plays bluray. 360 plays Dvd-dl cant play bluray. do i make sense. |
Re: Toshiba Pulls Out Of Hd Dvd, Blue-ray Wins by texazzpete(m): 5:34pm On Feb 18, 2008 |
vowiski: So? it's a safe bet that 98% of those that bought xbox 360s bought it solely to play games. Most PS3 owners didn't buy the console for movies either. Blu-ray is still a whole lot more expensive than conventional DVDs, and the difference in quality isn't exactly night and day. if you needed a cheap blu-ray player, fine. if you wanted a games console, that's a whole new ball game entirely. While you'll see an increase in PS3 sales due to the fact that it's also blu-ray player, that doens't help sony much. Sony loses money on the hardware, but makes money on software sales. People buying PS3s solely to play Blu-ray discs wont make much money for sony. |

Re: Toshiba Pulls Out Of Hd Dvd, Blue-ray Wins by vowiski(m): 9:22pm On Feb 18, 2008 |
Neoteny i have better things to attend to. if you watched cnn, who cares? next time get the full details. listen toshiba may pull out and not toshiba would pull out as you claim, pig HD-DVD(toshiba, microsoft, paramout, universa. etc) by tuesday toshiba would deside on the said issue. so don't talk trash next time. next time control your useless temper so as to avoid insulting FOOL. you re bigger than that. till tomorow |

vowiski: Vowiski. an analyst is making a projection based on what he believes. it's his opinion and should never be taken as fact. Sony's sales lead over the 360 in january is due to xbox 360 shortages. |
Re: Toshiba Pulls Out Of Hd Dvd, Blue-ray Wins by Nobody: 9:54am On Feb 19, 2008 |
Microsoft did not commit to either one. They had the HD-DVD as an Xbox attachment. Now they can sell a blu-ray attachment for the xbox |

Re: Toshiba Pulls Out Of Hd Dvd, Blue-ray Wins by texazzpete(m): 2:07pm On Feb 19, 2008 |
vowiski: Vowiski PLEASE. Speak only of things you know about. Sony is not the owner of Blu-ray. there's a Blu-Ray Disc Consortium, and sony's just one of the members. Only yesterday Sony said microsoft and Toshiba were welcome to join the Blu-ray association. Anyone can join in the game, anyone that pays the mandatory licensing fees can produce Blu-ray hardware easily. |

vowiski: You worthless child. Here's your proof http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_Association The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) is the industry consortium that develops and licenses Blu-ray Disc technology and is responsible for establishing format standards and promoting business opportunities for Blu-ray Disc. The BDA is divided into three levels of membership: the Board of Directors, the Contributors, and the General Members. [1] The "Blu-ray Disc Founder" was founded in May 2002 by nine leading electronic companies: Sony, Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung. Spearheaded by NP Infotech, on February 19th 2002 the companies announced [2] that they were the "Founders" of the Blu-ray Disc and later changed their name to the "Blu-ray Disc Association" on May 18, 2004 to allow more companies to join their development. Some examples of companies that signed in include Apple, TDK, Dell, Hewlett Packard, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. and Universal Music Group. As of December 2007, there are more than 250 members and supporters of the Association. vowiski: That has been the tag from people who know nothing. And you're one of them. |

Sony started the development more than 2 decades ago when it lost the format war between it's Betamax and JCV's VHS in 1980. ever since companies likes matsushita, pioneer, tompson, LG electronics, sharp, Hitachi and samsung have joined SONY in this next generation format development. sony's bluray also has alot of board of directors like Dell, Apple,Hp, watt dipsney etc. cheers!!! |

Too bad for HD DVD. I wanted the continuation of DvDs, not the Blu ray. Companies that supported HD DVD are all pulling out. Microsoft is only in support possibly because of the 360. The disadvantage is that the external HD DVD of the 360 is that it doesn't play games, too bad. By the way, according to the company executive there will be no Blu ray drive for the 360. |
