Good morning nairalanders. I need your advice on this. I want to buy a samsung galaxy SII with model number GT-i9100 phone. Someone told me samsung galaxy sII are of different models. Please if yes , what model is the best and if no, please advice me if the model I chose is good...thanks for your good work, expecting your contributions.

The model is just let's you know if the phone is sim enabled or CDMA like the phones they have in the US.but all in all the galaxy SII is a wonderful phone

Samsung galaxy SII has two models, the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9100G, both run on different processor and GPU. The G model(I9100G) came after the non G model(I9100). The G model runs on 1.2GHz Texas Instruments OMAP4430 CPU and PowerVR SGX540 GPU while the non G model runs on 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and ARM Mali-400 GPU. The thing with the G model is that the processor is capped at 1008Mhz thus reducing heat and saving battery life unlike the non G models. The non G model runs at full 1.2GHz. Most gamers might prefer the non G model. Another reason you might want to go for the non G model is that software updates/hacks come earlier for this model compared to the G model. If you are not a heavy user, then the G version will do just fine, its cheaper too.
