he Nigeria Police College has confirmed that about 500 recruits, have been dismissed for various offences.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adekunle Oladunjoye, who is the Acting Commandant of the College, revealed this during the graduation of 4,484 recruits in Kaduna on Friday.

The offences committed by the recruits included forgery, stealing, health challenges and indiscipline.

“The recruit intake Batch 1/2011 course was inaugurated in October 2011.
“They were sent in by the various Police Commands in northern Nigeria catchments areas such as Kano, Jigawa Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau and the FCT.

“Today we are witnessing the passing out of 4,484 recruits consisting general and specialist constables after 15 months of classroom and field training,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, reminded the graduands of their primary responsibilites – protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

“Our primary and sacred function of protection of life and property must not be compromised.

“You must take into cognisance the fundamental human right of every citizen which must not be infringed so as to gain the confidence of members of the public,” he said.

Mr. Abubakar advised them to be of good character and to “eschew any form of corruption in the performance of your duties”.

The entire NPF is over due for disbandment. Until that is done, none of its member is free from theft and forgery untoward behaviour. We can all start on a clean slate and make potential recruit to have at least a pass in 'lie detection test'. That is my submission

And whats to be done about the thieves that are already in the Force, I can authoritatively say that it is a mis-norm to find a Police officer who hasnt taken bribe since joining the Force. Its time to reconsider our stands on the issue of State Police Departments for proper monitoring. How do we expect 200,000 ill-equipped Police men to protect over 160 million Nigerians and over 10 million foreigners in this Republic.

You just can't accept any paper(s) or documents without rigorous examination. Btw, what happened to medical certificates, or they have no idea that it does exist? Mtcheeew... Another typical Naija misinformation.

Where were 500 people expelled for theft and forgery?

Foool, if you want to sensationalise your thread, you could have at least put "etc" at the end of your title.

Permit me to ask; what do you mean ill-equipped? I thought attitudinal/personality orientation and reformation should be the priority. The situation has gone overboard, if we like equip each officer with bazooka and armored tank, rather than have a positive change, more stooges will made out of civilians due to intense intimidation and coercion. The force is long over due for holistic overhauling

You dwell on the last clause in my assertion, the earlier verse made mention of reviewing our stand on instituting State Police Departments for effective control and monitoring, that's where the attitudinal re-engineering could be piloted, than in this status quo and continual injection of more wine in a dirty bottle.

just pitying the unlucky ones dismissed. Guess they had no strong politician to back their forged certificate up like the others not dismissed.

Apologies, I glossed over your earlier verse. I didn't want to take that into cognizance. I have never subscribed to a state police in an entity called Nigeria. Until we have an effective federal system of govt as it deems to be in definition and operation (like the USA), effective state policing will be a mirage. The same experience garnered from the centrally controlled Police department will be imported to state police departments. The same state governors who seem to wield more power than the central govt will make the state police personal security outfits thus making it a misnomer for community interest.

Lest I forget, CONGRATULATIONS! to the men who has chosen to lay down their lives for a country, whose leaders and citizens alike do not and will never ever appreciate their sacrifice.

I wish you all (Graduands of the Police College) luck as you exhibit your bravado, even when you are not properly equipped & remunerated to face dare devils (armed robbers, terrorists, kidnappers, etc). May the good Lord be your shield and your buckler, may He protect you from all dangers as you serve humanity.

My soul & heart is with you. CONGRATS!

U make me laf...when we speak of certificate forgery, the south are second to none. A popular example is so called clueless Phd holder,Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
@ topic, the system of recruitment into the police force itself is a fraud, because 500 were expelled for various offences doesn't mean the rest aren't crooks.
