ivorian225: I see a difference between Ivorian Akan and Ghanaian Akan, the ivorians use more gold and Ghanaian more traditional pearls

another thing i have noticed: concerning women traditional makeup, Ghanaian women do not use as much kaolin (those white somewhat circle designs) on their body and faces
i remember when we had carnival in primary school my mum used to decorate me as a xmas tree grin, she would fill my face and body of kaolin...miss those days smiley

yup for the system of days, I don't know about the other Akan ethnic group but the Baoule have the same. I suppose Agni and Nzema do have it as well. However for the Baoule, the names are moved forward from one day to the twi, u see the way Koffi is Friday for u, for us Koffi is saturday. Also the names are the same but spelling is different cuz of the fench/british coloniasation.

Monday:
kouassi (equivalent of Kwesi and pronounced Kwassi); akissi (eq. of Akos, note that the brong have the name Akos/Akossoua as well in CIV but the baoule don't, for the Baoule it's Akissi)

Tuesday:
kouadio (eq.kwedjo, some Agni, Attie and Nzema use Kodjo); adjoua (eq.adwoa)

Wednesday:
konan (eq. Kwabena is used by Agni and Nzema and we write it Kobenan, Kouamenan, Kouabenan, Kouablan);
amenan/Amlan (eq.Abena, we use Abenan for Nzima and Agni)

Thursday:
kouakou (eq. kwaku/ Agni and Nzema use Kakou/Kacou); ahou (akua, Baoule don't have Akua, but Nzema and Agni do and we spell it Akoua, some also use Acouba)

Friday:
yao(eq. yaw); aya or ya (yaa)

saturday:
koffi (eq. Kofi /this name is found in every Akan ethnic group in CIV ; affoué (eq.affua Baoule use Affoue, I am an Affoue, Nzema and Agni use Affoua=Afua, Affia, Affiba)

sunday:
kouamé (eq.kwame); amoin (e.q Ama, Ama is used by Nzema and Agni)

tht wud be difficult, am Ashanti thus, I speak TWI....Nzema language is quite different from the TWI language tho we'r all Akan...

Fante TWI on the other hand is the same as Asante, Brong Ahafo, Akyem, Kwehu,Akuapem etc. except, the Fante language sounds kinda sexy grin (at least thts wht most people say) , kinda like how the British english sounds....so the Asante twi (American english) and the Fante twi (British english)

OKAY SYBELLA, IVORIAN225 & ROYAL, here's a Ghanaian Akan(twi) love song (highlife music we call it) grin hope u like it....enjoy!

grin grin this is how Ghanaian Akan (twi) rap sounds, in this vid, u'll see the rapper (sarkodie) wearing an Akan crown similar to what u see on the Ivorian and Ghanaian Akan kings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPtrgXoYDEw?hl=en_US

aha i thought maybe u ll understand, cuz i made some of my Ghanaian friends listen to orentchy, and some meiway grin and they said they can understand just a lil bit tongue
NZema in CIV i believe is the closest to twi
Baoule is closer to Sefwi but some common words with twi are:

Gnanmien=god
Akwaba=welcome
M'co la = Me co da= I am going to sleep
Sika=money
Co fa ma me=bring me smthg
...
just the way we say thing is diffent , also we use some expressions that are old that twi do not use anymore like:

Momo = thank u for example but u use "yebluade" grin i dunno how to spell it
