I have always had this issue with people for as long as I can remember. I care too much about people and I expect them to treat me alike, when I don't see similar empathy in them, I get very hurt and depressed, in fact I am suffering depressive issues right now. I which I can have the ability not to care at all about them. Please help!

You need to see a psychiatrist or a mental health physician. They'll be of help.
