ALL THOSE SAYING IGBOS DIDNT TRAVEL SHOULD SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. You need to check the number of flights going to the east. The eastern airports of Imo, Enugu, Asaba and Port Harcourts are a beehive of activities better-still visit Mazamaza or Jibowu and see the crowd at the various bus terminals. DONT BE DECEIVED BY THE FALSEHOOD SPREAD BY ETHNIC BIGOTS WHO ARE VERY ENVIOUS OF IGBOS. Gunmen Kill US Returnee In Enugu
26 December, 2012
A US returnee, Ogbo Edoga, was shot in his home town at Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State on Wednesday.
According to the report the economist went to the house of one of his kinsmen, from where the two assailants, accosted him and shot him at point blank. He reportedly died before reaching the hospital.
Family sources said the deceased returned to Nigeria to attend a meeting of Nsukka professionals based in United States, geared towards raising funds for the construction of an ultra-modern medical diagnosis centre to be built at Ede Oballa community in the area.
Eye witnesses said the killers had asked the deceased "Where is the money?" But the soft spoken Financial economist reportedly knelt down, begging his assailants to spare his life, only for one of them, said to have been armed with an AK 47 rifle, to release several shots around his waist after forcefully snatching his waist band. The assassins were said to have escaped in a car belonging to a retired senior officer of State Security Service SSS who was passing by.
The incident, threw Aku community into pandemonium, disrupting programmes lined-up for the day, which included a reception for an indigenous priest and the dedication of a structure built by the deceased’s twin sister’s husband. Following this development, security has heightened in the area, as a combined team of military men and policemen have mounted surveillance and patrol all over the area in search of the killers.

jason123: The OP is right. I am in Lagos right now and most of my neighbours of Igbo origin didn't travel. Only my Spouse's family traveled to Enugu BUT they are staying in a hotel because of the kidnappers and armed-robbers. They simply can't go home.

I blame OBJ presidency. How can a developing country place import ban on legitimate business and not expect criminality in the land? Before OBJ, did the east have Kidnappers? The ans is No. Fashola is spewing the same crap as OBJ in Lagos about businesses.
Ndiigbo on the other hand should arrest dis situation and really drive home the message that wat is going on right now is really unacceptable.There use to be a time wen people could sleep outside on the patio of their homes without fear of armed robbers, maybe snakes.
The whole eastern territory should be properly secured with various vigilante groups and state security apparatus working jointly, to arrest the situation whilst state government and local government help people start a local based economy that is regulated to ensure every person can feed themselves without price hike and have clothes/shelter. |
