Fellow Nairalanders, Please I need an information on Lithuanian Study visa.. I have all my documents ready now but confused on where to get the visa. I was told to go to Turkey or Egypt but when I wrote to Turkey, they said they dont give transit visa to student anymore though they told me that France is Accredited for Lithuania but Neither France nor Belgium give LONG STAY VISA TO LITHUANIA except short stay which is not for Study. On egypt side, as prospectus student must have a resident permit before he can apply for Lithuanian study visa from Egypt.. Someone please help!!!! IT URGENT

it depend on your school,some do apply tru indian,cairo,

Lithuania is a Schengen member country hence the embassy of France (or any other Schengen member embassy) can represent it.
Yes, French embassy can issue you a short term visa for Lithuania, but you should be able to get your student permit whilst in Lithuania.

You kinda right Vicjustice but some countries don't permit the conversion of short visa to residence permit for example Germany.
My advice is for you to make findings your best bet is to ask the school the possibilities of converting short to long term.
After getting the information be generous enough to share with everyone.

If a country has an embassy in any given country, it is highly unlikely that it allows citizens of that particular country to extend their visas. But if a country is lacking an embassy in any given country, and the country is represented by another country in diplomatic matters, there is usually a policy of visa extension or conversion from a short term visitor visa (issued by the representing country) to a long tern appropriate visa or resident permit whilst in the country
