Governor Peter Obi has presented cheques totaling Twenty Million Niara to St. Joseph’s Hospital Adazi-Nnukwu for building projects in the hospital. Governor Obi presented the cheque while laying the foundation stone for the school of Nursing of the hospital. The Governor said ten million naira was to commence work on the school of Nursing building, while the other ten million naira is to  continue work on the on going Dr. Joe Nwilo Heart Diagnostic Centre.
 
He explained that  government is upgrading facilities in the hospital and other five hospitals selected from the three senatorial zones to serve as training centres for medical personnel as well as provide specialist services to give people easy access to quality health care.
 
Governor Obi assured that the sixty million naira needed for the school of Nursing has been set aside already and enjoined the hospital management to accelerate work on the project.
 
The Governor while thanking the church for its contribution to the Health and Education Sector expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far.
 
The Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor noted that the Governor has provided people easy access to health service by bringing healthcare down to the grassroots and noted that his selfless service is renewing the face of the State.
 
While thanking the Governor for the support, the bishop assured him that the church will continue to collaborate with him to uplift the life of the people.
 
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor urged the student to take advantage of the opportunity offered by government to equip themselves properly to serve the State and the society effectively.
 
In an address, the Manager of the hospital, Reverend Fr. Felix Efobi who spoke through Nurse Faith Ejimude expressed gratitude to the Governor for his various intervention in the hospital that have totally transformed it, noting that projects initiated by Governor in the hospital are now being completed.
