Great stuff.

Water therapy is drinking plenty of water first thing early in the morning. Its a very healthy way to cleanse the body. But then it makes u want to urinate often. This is what i think. If the op means other things,I dontknow

Beautiful job... Again I say, very beautiful job..

1. I love your 505. I have dreams of buying one and restoring it to its original factory state (with a few modifications of my own.) I wonder if you know any place in Nigeria where car customization is done. I'm talking beyond wheels and tyres to suspension, engine replacement (should I decide to fit a bigger and more powerful engine into mine) and brakes. I am yet to decide between the 505 and the 504. But God knows I surely restoring one. It would be a 1 year project as I intend to pace myself. I have been told I will be able to buy a good peugeot in the east whenever I am ready, its just the restoration that I have no I dea where I would do it.

2. The state of the roads are wow!! I would have enjoyed pushing my vehicle through those roads.

3. Fuel consuption! WOW!!! That was a real shocker. I always thought stick shifts (coupled with carburetor pumps) would consume more.. HMMMM!!!!

4. Quality of your photographs are great.

5. The picture of Amawbia/Nise road brings memories.. You were barely 10minutes away from my home town of Agukwu Nri.

Beautiful thread, nice ride, lovely photographs. Please let me know abou point one should you have any ideas on that. [/b]

1. I would advice you get a foreign assembled series II 505 or foreign assembled 504 GL, not the PAN production. Most of the foreign assembled came with 4 wheel disk brake as standard. The PAN 504 & 505 had rear drum brake, very unreliable on highspeed and fails often. But the PAN 504 & 505 rear brake can be converted to the disk brake. I did the conversion for an uncle, back then in Enugu. 505 V6 is a very rare car. It maybe difficult for you to find. But it will save you the stress of the conversion, since you are after one with powerful engine.

3. The ZN3J, PRV 2.8 L engine, in 505 V6 is an EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) engine, not a fuel carburreted engine.

5. Mom is from Nise. So, I drove to the Nise to visit my mom's siblings (Uncles & Aunties) that came home for the Xmas Holiday too.

Interesting thread, you nailed it again!

On a lighter note, I noticed you got rid of those shoes that caused an uproar on the Easter travel thread. About time too!

Finally, for me Peugeot cars come with all that nostalgia of yester-years that no toyota or honda can ever replicate.

ikenna the Ajala travel...nice photos and trip...

but i noticed your last trip and this trip have some things in common
1) your cars develops minor faults and you fix it
2) you always help people on the road...last time an old woman and her grandchild or so and
now a young girl (which you didn't finish the story...)we shall let that slide....

nice one and good to know you are a do it yourself man...like my father..

i want to encourage us all to have all our kits and safety gears in our cars while traveling. i was coming back to Lagos
on the 29th from Abeokuta where i went to spend Christmas with parents when on the highway i saw a 406 just caught fire, it's bonnet up while the driver, out of shock and panic i guess was trying to put out the fire by blowing air from his mouth...it was a case of horror humour...i managed to swerve and park on the highway and as soon as i did i saw some fellow travelers had also quickly parked, opened their booths and rushed to the burning car with fire extinguishers....about 5 extinguishers finally put out the fire..thankfully no one was hurt...so please carry your every every when traveling...

Nice One Ikenna.

@poster. You would agree with me there's a big difference in reporting and coverage on this trip compared to he last trip. I could remember being offended seeing only 6 pictures for a trip covering over 500km.
Now I see a really entertaining coverage and reporting. welldone.

Your 505 still looks very good especially considering the rate at which cars wear out on Nigerian roads! The Golf VR6 is no joke. Looking up your car specs (2,849cc 6-cylinder engine 125 kW), it seems comparable to the Golf 2.8 VR6 128 kW but I guess the VR6s are few and far between.

Question: how do you figure out the way to go during your journey? Are there highway signs for you to follow?

Long distance driving is a hobby to me. So, it wasnt a difficult thing to know the route to my destination, since i have been driving on that highway for long.

Though, recently, i started seeing some signs directing confuse drivers roads to take to their destinations betwen Lokoja and Ajaokuta. I think after Ajaokuta, the signs stopped, meaning, you are on your own. Anyway, i dont pay attention to those signs since i know my way.

DAY 1: 27/12/2012 ( JOURNEY FROM ABUJA TO ENUGU)

I woke up at 4:20am and started preparing for the journey. I opened the bonnet and checked to be sure everything was in place. Checked the headlight & the rear lights. I packed my stuffs in the car.

Also need to mention that my favourite artiste was keeping me company, as you can see in one of the pics.www.nairaland.com/attachments/937480_021_jpg81db42fb7c55ca1c8155369c6bd13033

gmyguy: THAT ENGINE PIX LOOKS LIKE A SNAKE NEST...NO offense, but the pix quality is poor and gives me the creeps

Some of the pictures i took, including the engine bay, with my phone, Nokia 808 PureView, couldnt upload here, due to the picture quality with large sizes. Some of them are upto 12 MB. Even after resizing them, they were still too big to upload here. So, i now uploaded the pictures i took with my back up phone, Nokia N97, at the same time with the 808 PureView, which the quality of the pictures i took with the N97 were not even close to the ones of 808 PureView (41 megapixel). The pictures of the 808 PureView are so beautiful. I will upload those ones in my Facebook, since it can take such large sizes.

So, bear with me for the poor quality of the engine bay picture here.
