mu2sa2: With so many groups around whose continued existence is dependent on their being no cure for AIDS, i wonder if any cure claim will be taken seriously. A cure for AIDS will spell doom for so many people and these people wouldn't want that to happen.
You think the world is that petty? However, I can only account for the medical world; we are trying.

fabihill: What's wrong with talking to the press.?....is he the first person that has spoken to the press about a research in progress.?..even in other fields of study!...politics, law and the rest.! ...c bro! I graduated from uniben and i know how much jealousy and hatred these profs...throw around.!...

absolutely nothing wrong with talking to the press but not at this stage of his research. We know following due process sometimes gets you nowhere in this country but he should have atleast kept mum on his project for the meantime. Instead of calling on the government to fund his research, why didn't he first approach the institution where he's employed? I think his eagerness for fame and fortune has cost him his reputation and possibly his career.

Smooyis: Two wrongs do not make a right. Our attitude of antagonism, accusations and counter accussations will never lead us anywhere. Granted that the professor has made some mistakes. This does not mean we have to throw the baby out with the bath water. The University while querying d proffessor for proffessional misconduct should have encouraged him to present his claim for verification instead of completely disassociating themselves from him. Geinuses do not often times behave normal. Who knows he might have made a medical breakthrough that could take the name of d university and the country higher and help millions of people living with the virus. We should stop underestimating d capability of our own people. The proffessor might have been too excited at the success of his discovery and couldn't wait longer to burst it out. We all have our weaknesses. God bless Nigeria!

You spoke my mind! I wonder why Nigerians are skeptical of almost anything and are quick to judge. While there be an issue with the process of announcing the progress made, I think the strong worded dissociation by NAFDAC and the University community may be myopic. People should see the bigger picture. For me, I still think this may be the road to screaming " Eureka!". Let us not always see the cup that is half empty but the cup that is half full. Where is the greed in all of this as some claimed? The only reason we remain underdeveloped or even undeveloped is because we fight what is good to destroy it because it does not originate from us i.e envy and senseless destructive pride. What is the result?: Stagnation, bitter complaints and poverty. The difference between us and the white skinned is the mindset; if it were in the Western world this claim was made, the professor would have been given a benefit of the doubt. Let us give Professor Isaiah Ibeh a break. I would not be surprised if in the end he gets the credit for true breakthrough that the sycophants from among the gowns and NAFDAC will be singing belated high praise, claiming glories with empty and verbose grammar. I do not want to speak about any conspiracy theory from the manufactuers of the antiretrovirals(ARVs). But I don't think it is rocket science to decipher that they will make more money with curative drugs than management drugs. If the Nigerian government cares to listen, let it look into this claim for whatever it is worth. I conclude by saying this adage from my place: how can you buy the truth if you don't a bit of lies? How can you stop planting at the sight of gathering clouds?. Let's ponder deeply on this and see with our mind's eye possibilities beyond the visible. Remember the Wright brothers' story and the invention of the air plane!

Science research is rarely truly objective. Especially for as long as funding is procured the way it is. Results/outcomes will largely continue to be spun into a favourable wind to suit funders/researchers.

This thing shouldn't cause controversy. If his claims are correct, look for some HIV patients and test the drug. QED. He needs the government and the institution's support.

Hmmm!,there is definitely more to this dat meets the eye.I rily think the prof. actualy made a breakthrough but they won't jst allow it to manifest.HIV is a man~made virus and i believe the caccus* behind it know the cure.May God save us.

A-ZeD:

Dude please!!!!!

When people realise there are rules and regulations to be followed.

Got threatened by who?

I'm pretty sure that lecturer is a dull headed fellow

IBB is no longer in power how come Dr Abalaka has not gone back to work?

Foolishness will never takes us anywhere. Did prof do any clinical trials? What are the side effects of the drug?

You need to take your head out of the goddamn box and see the world for what it is.

What have you been doing to contribute for the betterment of this world?

the epoch of this disease called AIDS is an EPIDERMIC....that means, that a state of emergence is declared on it....it therefore goes that,
1. Any dicovery, theorical or otherwise that that can lead to a possible cure Must be accepted and followed up...why then are pple disassocitng from a possible cure to an epidermic?...
Why are the west quick to discredit any report concerning d epidemy especially from those it affect most

2. years ago, i came across an article that talked abt d ''NBC''- Nuclear, -Biological- Chemical weapons of destruction.....and i make bold to say that hiv/aids is a biochemical weapon of destructn for over populated countries of the world, as asserted by the mathusian theory......human populatn will geometrically outwit food arimethetic growth..
If Not tell me why the HiV/aids is more pronounced in d populous countries of the world?

3.condoms are among the world's highest selling commodity....antiretroviral drugs are patent....and u tell me some body or persons in power are not gaining from ths epidemy!!!?

The West are quick discredit any claim that someone else other than them found a cure for aids, because they stand to lose a great deal of money if this man is backed. They also do not want a cure for aids to be distributed. They prefer to have a stabilizer rather than a cure so they can keep making heaps of money.
