The Global System for Mobile Communications(GSM) came into Nigerian territory in 2001 and the telecoms industry experienced a massive revolution.

While having a retrospect of the phones I've used over the years, my mind went to the first GSM phone I used, which was my first ever mobile phone.

It was an Ecrisson A2628; a monochrome phone with an antenna and very compact in size.



Phones then were usually big and heavy, with small screens and very funny ring tones.

So I ask, can you remember yours?

I use to be ashamed of making or receiving calls then.. Choi! Alwayz on vibration and if they call na to comot go outside away from peole to receive the call..

Alcatel very briefly (no idea what the model is). Then motorola C199 I think, The phone really lasted. Can't even how many phones I've used since then.

I can still remember my first phone, it was a pathetic Sendo 200 I bought from MTN's Abuja office. The silly phone had a habit of freezing without my knowing it, and it pissed me off on more than one occasion. I hated that phone...a lot.

My first phone was Trium, as at then nokia 3310 and samsung blue face was very expensive.
