I don't know what you mean by "intimate" and neither do I understand your usage of the word "sex". If by "sex" you mean se.xual intercourse then I am very sure the couple have not had sex cause it is practically impossible to have sex.ual intercourse over the internet; as se.xual intercourse is the meeting of the male and female genital organs which often involves 'penetration'.

The level of intimacy of the couple is really not very clear from your post (this i guess is for good reasons) but if the act they performed involves just talk (which is sexua.lly explicit) and may be a show of their sexual organs without any form of personal stimulation i.e ma.sturbation, then for me I don't see anything wrong with it given that they are man and wife.

But the couple should realize that their choice involves some level of (unwanted) exposure which can degenerate into something very unpleasant like blackmail once a third party gets his or her hands on their act, as the internet is really not the safest place to do such things. Unless the couple is 100% sure that the 'connection' they use is secure and would not get to a third party.

However, I am of the opinion that if either of the couples will be tempted into committing ma.sturbation by performing this act or either of them would be moved to get someone in the interim pending when the other partner would come back then it is best for them to deviate from this and prefer to travel down to meet the partner (where possible) in order to avoid this occasion of sin.

Depending on what u mean by "fantasize" but its not a sin for a couple to desire each other sexually.
