Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday thumped Portuguese second division side, Farense 5-0 in the team’s final warm-up game ahead of the 2013 Afcon in South Africa.

The Eagles were sleek and purposeful in the game and the only surprise was that the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Nigeria.

However, it was a total display of attacking efficiency from the Nigerians in the second half as they added four more goals to complete an emphatic win.

Villareal striker, Ikechukwu Uche netted a hat-trick while Emmanuel Emenike and John Obi Mikel, from the penalty spot, completed the scoring for the Super Eagles.

The final score would have been more lopsided but Nosa Igiebor hit the post three times while Mikel was also denied twice by the woodwork.

“The boys had declared before the game that they would go for the kill so to be perfectly honest, I am not surprised by this result,” executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Chris Green told supersport.com immediately after the game.

The Super Eagles will now head to South Africa in confident mood with their first game against Burkina Faso scheduled for January 21.
