Is SMS part of your companies communications strategy?
[h3]As we are becoming social ‘wired’ do we forget what highway exists?
Are you fighting for visibility with email and Facebook? LinkedIn? Google Plus?
While it is nice to be able to say that you have a good social media plan, I am quite sure 99% of these people have SMS available on their mobile phone. So as a medium to communicate it is highly available and relatively inexpensive. It is also very personal, something you should take into consideration when communicating. There are different ways to use this channel offering a host of different opportunities and I will highlight three areas here.
1. SMS Reminders – avoid disappointment
Have you ever booked time to see someone and forgotten it? If you got a kind reminder the day before saying “Looking forward to seeing you at abinosms at 2pm tomorrow” would you see that as intrusive? Unlikely, more importantly it would leave a good impression and friendly as well with your prospect or customer.
In some businesses it is key to maximise the outcome of planned visits. A consultant for pharmaceutical products may be travelling around the country and meeting GP’s according to a scheduled plan. It has been proven regularly that SMS reminders will increase the show (against no show) rate to be improved by 5-10% if not better. Just imaging getting 5% sales and profitability out of your marketing campaigns! Systematic SMS messaging could help you to do that.
2. Promotion of new products or offers
This is a tricky area, as too much will be very poor for your image, and you also have to include an option to opt out of it. But if you have a prospect and customer base who wants to get messages from you, this is now doubt an easy way to send information about product news and events. Given that in the big picture SMS marketing is still relatively rare, the impact it has got is quite good.
3. Use SMS to allow booking and service confirmation via SMS
When needing a service would it not be nice avoiding having to wait in a phone queue to get your service booked? Restaurants, taxis and other services now offer the opportunity to book services via SMS. It often includes confirmation of the service with details that make the buying experience a good one.
If you are working in a business environment where you see these SMS messages potentially being a benefit to your business, making it more efficient, more productive and leaving a friendly professional image for your customers and prospects have a look at how this could be organised through OfficeSMS from abinosms.
It is implemented on a very user friendly CMS platform at
