Suspected Militants Kill Nigerian Soldiers In Kogi by Iyaniwura123: 11:26pm On Jan 19, 2013 |
In another event reflecting the worrisome level of insecurity in Nigeria, suspected militants have attacked some personnel of the Nigerian Army in Itakpe, near Okene, Kogi State. The incident left two soldiers dead. According to eyewitnesses, the militants must have received information and tips on the movement of the troops and they planted explosives on the highway. The explosives went off as the army personnel got to the point. The bodies of the two soldiers, who died on the spot, have been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja. They were ambushed on their way to Kaduna State and were coming from the southern part of the country. The unfortunate incident has been confirmed by the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina and said investigations are going on to unmask those behind the attack.
