Be informed
Of all people with high blood pressure, over 20 percent are unaware of their condition.
This symptomless disease could leave them with substantial health consequences. Are you one of them? If you don't know, see a healthcare professional to be tested.

• Check your blood pressure. Getting your blood pressure checked is important because high blood pressure often has no symptoms.
Your doctor can measure your blood pressure, or you can use a machine available at many pharmacies. You can also use a home monitoring device to measure your blood pressure.FOR YOUR VALIDATED AND RELIABLE HOME BLOOD PRESSURE MEASURING MACHINE AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE WITH ADEQUATE COUNSELING AND GUIDE, call: 08025999391
Blood pressure is written as two numbers. The first (systolic) number represents the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart beats. The second (diastolic) number represents the pressure in your vessels when your heart rests between beats.

Blood Pressure Levels
Normal Systolic: less than 120 mmHg
Diastolic: less than 80 mmHg

At risk (prehypertension)
Systolic: 120–139 mmHg
Diastolic: 80–89 mmHg

High
Systolic: 140 mmHg or higher
Diastolic: 90 mmHg or higher.

How to Prevent High Blood Pressure: the first step is to know your blood pressure

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a dangerous condition that can lead to strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, or kidney disease.
Unfortunately, many people show up at the doctor's place when their blood pressure is already dangerously high.
Fortunately, there are certain things you can do to help reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure. These include the following:

Regular Home Monitoring of your Blood Pressure: to do this, you will need a well validated Home measuring Bp Machine. FOR YOUR VALIDATED AND RELIABLE HOME BLOOD PRESSURE MEASURING MACHINE AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE WITH ADEQUATE COUNSELLING AND GUIDE, call: 08025999391

Eat right: A healthy diet is an important step in keeping your blood pressure normal. The DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) emphasizes adding fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to your diet while reducing the amount of sodium. Since it is rich in fruits and vegetables, which are naturally lower in sodium than many other foods, the DASH diet makes it easier to eat less salt and sodium.
I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND DASH FOR YOU IF YOUR BP IS BETWEEN <120-130Hg Systolic. i.e the upper value>.

Keep a healthy weight: Going hand-in-hand with a proper diet is keeping a healthy weight. Since being overweight increases your blood pressure, losing excess weight with diet and exercise will help lower your blood pressure to healthier levels.

Cut down on salt: The recommendation for salt in your diet is to have less than 2,400 milligrams of sodium a day (equal to about one teaspoon). To prevent hypertension, you should keep your salt intake below this level. Don't forget that most restaurant foods (especially fast foods) and many processed and frozen foods contain high levels of salt. Use herbs and spices that do not contain salt in recipes to flavor your food; do not add salt at the table. (Salt substitutes usually have some salt in them.)

Keep active: Even simple physical activities, such as walking, can lower your blood pressure (and your weight).
Drink alcohol in moderation: Having more than one drink a day (for women) and two drinks a day (for men) can raise blood pressure.

SAESONING OR SAUCE, HYPERTENSION OR POISON.

My blood pressure spiked to 150/118. The doctors were very concerned and one even thought I was using cocaine. I wasn't. It was MSG. What embarassed me is that I was a food process engineer with a B.S. in Food Science. This should not have been a revelation. But it was. A very big one. I was not taught about glutamate in college because it is a non-essential amino acid. That means the body can make it, and any amount in the diet is already excessive, and not necessary to add to food. (Carol H).

MSG is a chemical Monosodium Gluatamate. This chemical is most time the major ingredients in all the wrapped seasoning and sauce (you know them, i won't mention. There is a particular one that has become a household name and there is another that comes as white crystalline salt.
Most eatery <if not all> add excessive quantity of this food additive to their food. hence a person who eat out regularly may find it difficult to control his/her blood pressure.

The glutamate in MSG has a vasoconstrictive effect on blood vessels due to its action as a calcium channel OPENER.

Unfortunately, most doctors are not aware that MSG acts in this way. Those patients taking calcium channel blockers may want to reconsider eating large amounts of an unnecessary food additive that may interfere with their medication.
