The same Kanoute that was flop in the Premier league, no?? He did his thing in Sevilla, however, Jay Jay Okocha raised him, to be honest... I bet Kanuote himself will agree with me...

One of the most efficient defenders Africa has seen, with 138 caps with African football's powerhouse at their peak.

No be beans or Asaro.

Perhaps, that's why African football is rubbish!! Song was rubbish, end of story!

Tackle first, think later - who does that?? Sammer, Baresi et al are shaking their heads in disgust!!

Kuffour of Ghana was far better than him as well!!

Sagamite:

So Diouf is better than Yaya Toure?

Diouf is comparable to Bwalya, Essien and Hossam?

Really?

Diouf is better than Nkono, Antoine Bell, Grobellar, Pokou

Maybe Yaya Toure should be higher than that. But Diouf not top 30? thats not right for a 2 time African footballer of the year and World cup All star player

Is Messi from Africa? Pls don't bring club issues into this. I am sure you are a Chelsick fan.

But I thought you asked what Essien did in Africa?

So you don't find sense in thinking what did Messi do in South America?

1 year of flash and you are the greatest ever (especially if you do a few hay-hay-hay leg-overs)?

Sorry, not in Sagamite's world.

Diouf is better than Liverpool's number 1 keeper for more than 8 years during the era when Liverpool were king's in UK and Europe?

Really? undecided

How many years did Kaka spend at the top? Does that mean Paul Scholes is better than him?

How many years did Ronaldinho spend at the top? Did that mean Giggs is better than him

Jarus:

He was the most important player in Lyon's CL run in 2003/2004, getting to S/finals I think. He single-handedly carried Chelsea for 2 seasons, 2005-2007.

And he made the 20-30 man shortlist of WPOY for 5 consecutive years. Could have won African POY if not because of striker role of Eto'o and Drogba.
As far as i'm concerned this is not a unique achievement. Some other African players have achieved this feat or even better but did not make the list or are somewhere down on the list.

Yes. He was an irreplaceable defensive stalwart for Bayern for many years and an UCL winner. Let's see if Song can make first team at Barca while winning things then he may surpass.

Kaka and Ronaldinho spent many years at the top.

At least 5 years.

Never compare such people to Diouf.

Shining at tournaments does not make you great. Especially one tournament.

why barca ,which era? Song has always been a starter so I don't get your point. As for UCl its all about luck you know . Ronaldo the Brazilian never won the UCL , but he is the best striker in the world.

Okocha did not deserve to win the African footballer of the year not even once.

Okocha was just an entertainer a circus entertainer not a purposeful footballer

Okocha wont make my own top 5 Nigerian footballers
I noticed you're not fond of Okocha but this Okocha you call a circus entertainer carried the Nigerian team on his back for so many years just the same wayy he carried PSG and Bolton.

Barca, because that's his present club and perhaps the last and only chance at glory. If he can't cut it there then we honestly can't rate him amongst the very greats. Life is about making use of opportunity not just getting there.

What has Messi done for Argentine football?
I am sorry for not having sense! But for you that have sense, take note that the thread is talking about 30 top footballers in Africa and not the world. May be in comparison you would have asked me what Kanu or any other player on the list has done to Africa football.
