chucky234: Sagamite must be drinking some cheap Korean alomo bitters to have put together a list as ridiculous as this,Kanu won UEFA Champions league aged 19yrs and was an important player at the then world's best football,Ajax Amsterdam and no African footballer dead or alive has ever achieve that fit. Missed the point here. Drogba wasn't average at Marseille, was best player in UEFA cup in 2003, scored in every match except final which OM lost, almost like Falcao that season. He was also highest goal scorer in French ligue that season, and won French ligue 1 footballer of the year. You won't call that average player. It is also a joke for you to say Kanu is also behind only Eto'o. Abedi also won CL with Marseille and was more key than Kanu for Ajax |

Sagamite:I asked for any personal achievements and not WPOY afterall only one African player has won it. Henry can be considered sh1t because he was a local champion. All his achievements did not cross England. You can't compare him with Luis Figo and Kaka for example. Infact, it's an insult to do so. And about buying one of these players, i'll put my money on Figo because unlike these other two, he's a one man riot squad. |

People underrating Essien also didnt know that he succeeded Drogba as French ligue1 player of the season for 2004 |

Afam4eva: You really are not serious. That shyt player called Messi is also some stewpid local Champion. All his achievement is in Spain. ![]() See argument. ![]() |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by ballabriggs: 11:47am On Jan 27 |
Sagamite: That you do not know him says a lot about your knowledge of the game in Africa. That man is the most capped football international in the World with 184 caps for country. Has won four AFCON titles in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010. Captained Egypt to three AFCON titles. Won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly...... What else do you want ![]() |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by Afam4eva(m): 11:48am On Jan 27 |
Sagamite:You don't get my point... Messi won the Champions league and WPOY award on several occasions. What did Thiery Henry win in the European pr world scene. Pls don't name the France 98 world cup. I'm referring to an individual achievement. |

Sagamite: My friend don't be gullible, I checked Essiens record and i dont see any award for being the world's best ... Please post your source Moreover, though Essien is a very good player I believe the reason why he was so hyped was because he played at his best in a prominent league! Okocha spent his best years in PSG and most especially Fenebarche. At the time he arrived at the premier league he was just past his best but still managed to win the bbc african footballer of the year twice!! something Essien hasnt been able to do. Also please tell me, if your team was 1-0 down and you needed someone to make an impact on the game, sincerely speaking who would you bring on? Essien or Okocha? My two cents. |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by Sagamite(m): 11:55am On Jan 27 |
ballabriggs: I want him to do something exceptional that would make him stand out in the team that is winning something. I would want him to do something exceptional to the point he is poached to come and play at the highest level. I would want him to do somehting excpetional that we fcking even notice him. |

Afam4eva: WINNING AWARDS IS A FUNCTION OF THE ERA YOU ARE IN. So all the Christianos and Iniesta that will never win awards because a player called Messi is there, to people like you, will become hopeless players? Ikpeba and Amunike are better players than Okocha becaause they won AFoY? You guys should stop using rubbish tools. Judge on: - Players ability in their role. - At what level they excelled with this ability. - What influence they had on their team at these level. Awards, Team trophies, caps, sale price, salary, sexy wife etc should all be secondary and back up. |

kramer: I will post you a dictionary instead: http://www.dictionary.reference.com/ So you can check you English and be able to read and comprehend. |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by Afam4eva(m): 12:04pm On Jan 27 |
Sagamite:I see double standard here...you list the individual achievements of some players and when asked about those of others, you say it's as a result of the era. Despite Messi's current reign in football, Ronaldo and Iniesta are still winning some other awards. And they're the best 2nd and 3rd respectively. Has Essien ever even come close? Has he ever won an award for best player in London or even his village? |

Afam4eva: What awards are Ronaldo and Iniesta winning? |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by ballabriggs: 12:06pm On Jan 27 |
Sagamite: What exceptional thing did your Segun Odegbami do? What exceptional thing did your George Finidi do? What exceptional thing did Tony Yeboah do? Having 184 caps for country is not "exceptional"? Having four AFCON titles is not "exceptional"? Captaining a country to three titles is not enough? |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by Afam4eva(m): 12:09pm On Jan 27 |
Sagamite:Iniesta won the best player in Europe award and Ronaldo has always been one of the highest goal scorers along with Messi. So, these players cannot be wished away. |

mallorca:Guy i like ur argument, but corre,t ur mistake here Amunike won it 1997, Ikpeba won it 1997 too hw come? |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by J12: 12:09pm On Jan 27 |
Sagamite: If he wasn't prolific, then why was he the highest goal scorer in the 2000 African cup of nations? Cameroonians regard him as a god, the same way you regard Yekini is exactly the same way Cameroonians regard Mboma. |

| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by kramer: 12:12pm On Jan 27 |
@op i also noticed you managed to dodge my statements with your dictionary jibe. One more thing for you to check out When Essien moved to chelsea from Lyon.. it cost 24.4million pounds in 2005 When Okocha moved from fenerbache to PSG it cost 24million dollars in 1998(at the time the american dollar was on par with pounds). So if you adjust that value according to inflation it will be way more than 24 million pounds. Point here is Okocha was worth more than Essien.. QED |

Sadok Sassi Atouga - Goalkeeper. Tunisia. Opoku Nti - Striker/midfield - Ghana. Ole Ole - Striker/midfield - Cameroon. Thompson Usiyen - Striker- Nigeria. Humphrey Edobor - Outside left/forward - Nigeria. |

kramer: Essien is hyped? r u on drugs? If u want useless dribblings witout producing any meaningful outcome most of the time pls give it okocha. 2005 UNFP LIGUE 1 PLAYER OF DA YR 2006 BBC AFRICAN PLAYER OF THE YR 2008 GHANA PLAYER OF THE YR CHELSEA GOAL OF THE SEASON 2006-07 VS ARSENAL, 2008-09 VS BARCELONA 2007 CHELSEA PLAYER OF THE YEAR I WONT CONTINUE ANYMORE JUX SPEW OUT OKOCHA'S OWN, ALWAYS PLAYING TO THE GALLERY ![]() |

Brown Bread: Dude sharap and go and read your children's books. Did you ever see Okocha play?? Why dont you paste Okocha's honours as well? What a dumbnut BTW did i not say Essien was a good player too? All i said is he was hyped because he was more prominent because he played for chelsea. Read my previous post again and you will see the value of the two players |

kramer: I said a player was " listed as one of the World best for 4-5 successive seasons", you yeye head go do research about when he "was the best player in the World". ![]() Afam4eva: And Henry did not win European Golden Boot? So if Messi had pipped Iniesta to the Europe award (which he should have), would that have made Iniesta a shyt player that is a local champion? Is Xavi also a Shyt player that is a local champion? J12: Milan Baros was the Highest Goalscorer in Euro 2004. Wow! Milan Baros is a God and one of the greatest 10 players ever in the world and he was prolific? Can you all see how silly one can get if someone starts reciting meaningless awards that can swing one way because of momentary brilliance. That said, and Yekini did not win it too? Camerounians regard Milla and Etoo as Gods, not Mboma! Mboma is more like Oliseh/Amokachie to them. Stop amking claims just to keep arguing. |
| Re: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by Afam4eva(m): 12:27pm On Jan 27 |
Sagamite:Unlike Thirey Henry, Iniesta has proved his metal not just in the La Liga(opposite Henry's premiership) but in the UCL, euro nations cup and the world cup. Iniesta is a god where Henry is. |

ballabriggs: All na Africa naa. If you want to rate the best Nigerian player then even Moses Kpakol of BCC Lions will rank above Kanu because as far as Africa and Nigeria is concerned Kanu no near am. 1 Like |

ballabriggs: The exceptional things that made their names known across Africa and the World. Stop this moronic argument that captaining makes you significant. I don't argue at such Simpleton level. Yobo is captian of Nigeria and the most cap. Wow! Surely he must be on of the top 10 Nigerian players then? I don't argue at such simpleton level. |

And the baby who compiled this dared to miss out Emmanuel Okala of Nigeria, "the giant".The best and first goalkeeper to win African footballer of the year in 1978. |

Irunmole: Sadok Sassi Atouga - Goalkeeper. Tunisia. All, local champs. How they would have fared against other tongues, styles, coaches, no one knows so can't be compared. |
