Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s oldest and largest non-profit economic education organization operating in 112 countries worldwide. Its mission is to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace by encouraging young people to participate in a range of educational programs designed to help them understand the world of work.

Junior Achievement Nigeria embarked on a transformation program to facilitate achievement of its medium and long term corporate objectives. One of the key outcomes of the transformation exercise is the need to recruit suitable qualified individuals to fill the following vacancies:
1. Director of Operations
2. Manager, Information Technology

Position: Director of Operations
Location: JAN HQ Lagos


About the Position:
Directly accountable to the Executive Director (CEO), the Director of Operations (DOO) is responsible for the development of strategies related to core and new programs, as well as management of volunteers. The DOO will support the CEO towards achievement of the organization's vision, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives. Additional responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing an analytic and reporting framework for program performance monitoring
• Sustaining a corporate culture which promotes JAN’s values and ensures these are visible to all staff, schools/ organisations where JAN is implementing its programs and to the general public
• Preparing a detailed budget for each program and developing a periodic budget performance reports for all programs
• Making sure that programs and activities are being laid out efficiently and as effectively as possible. Ensure that the activities implemented are of good quality and relevant to the mission and vision of the JAN
• Define and implement funding strategies for JAN programs
• Preparing quarterly progress reports on programs & budget for the Programs Committee of the JAN Board
• Preparing periodic program progress report to the Executive Director. The report will include identified program risks and issues, actions taken to resolve the issues/ mitigate the risks and the immediate next steps
• Implement project management standards and tools for all JAN programs
• Drive the development of stronger relationships with JAN program key stakeholders
• Champion the JAN brand and ensure program communications, events, and partnerships align with the overall brand strategy
• Provide clarity to direct reports and team members; ensure quality in carrying out / directing work efforts
• Deputize for the Executive Director as and when required

Qualification and Experience:
The following are the minimum requirements for the position of the Director of Operations:
• Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university
• Professional certification in Project Management (such as PMP) or a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration or other Management Sciences will be an added advantage
• Experience working in or volunteering for a non-profit organization will be an added advantage
• Minimum of 2 years of management experience within a company or an NGO, with operations experience
• Experience in full lifecycle of project management – project/ program initiation, planning, execution and closure


2. Reference: MIT 002
Position: Manager, Information Technology
Location: JAN HQ Lagos


About the Position:
The Information Technology Manager reports to the Executive Director (CEO) and is part of the management team. The manager heads the IT department and is responsible for providing strong leadership by championing the use of information technology to drive JAN’s business operations as a means of improving business performance. Additional responsibilities include:
• Planning and overseeing implementation of sustainable technologies to achieve expected business outcomes – cost reduction, improvement in operational efficiency and expansion of coverage
• Developing annual IT budget forecasts, implementation, monitoring and controlling of JAN’s IT budget
• Manage JAN online and social media infrastructure / presence – JAN Portal/Website, Social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter etc), Blogs, Online Fora, etc.
• Oversee implementation of an eLearning/Learning Management System to support delivery of JAN programs
• Provide maintenance and support for all IT systems to ensure a minimum of downtime and fast resolution of any problems.
• Implement and maintain appropriate Information Security measures
• Ensure regular delivery of effective IT training for JAN employees
• Maintain an awareness of new developments in IT and ensure that the organization makes the best use of any such developments.
• Responsible for preparing quarterly progress reports on technology utilization and achievement of business outcomes to the JAN Technology Committee / Board
• Monitor, control and report progress in execution of technology initiatives to the Executive Director / JAN Technology Committee
• Identify risks / issues to implementation of technology initiatives, resolve or escalate to Executive Director / JAN Technology Committee
• Provide clarity to direct reports and team members; ensure quality in carrying out / directing work efforts


Qualification and Experience:
The following are the minimum requirements for the position of the Director of Operations:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
• Broad understanding of information communication technology – current operating systems, business applications, Email/messaging technologies, networking technologies, desktop environments and hardware infrastructure.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical role, with at least 2 years in supervisory/project delivery roles
• Professional certification in related I.T. disciplines will be an added advantage
• Experience working in or volunteering for a non-profit organization will be an added advantage
