Andre Uweh:
Mali has problem now yet they are in the nations cup.
How about Ivory Coast that has never stopped from qualifying despite all their problems?.
Most Malian and Ivorien players are in Europe, but 90% of Egyptian players are home-based. The Malians and Ivoriens aren't affected by the unrest

The difference is that the Egyptian league hasn't been on because of the uprising and internal problems, and majority of Egypt's players plays in their domestic league, while Ivory Coast and Mali have their players in Europe and other places.

is there still anyway Ivory coast can come 2nd in their group?
Maybe if they lose tomorrow and togo win against tunisia by a large margin
just wishful thinking.....
They can never come second in that group. Head on head will determine the table. Already, Ivory Coast have beaten Togo 2:1

If civ is invincible how come zambia won them to lift the trophy last year? Same zambia that needed an ojoro penalty to get a draw with us and couldn't make it out of our group!

@fewj: Victor Moses has indeed set a new record! grin

Also, this is the first time in 3 attempts that Coach Keshi would qualify a team for the quarterfinals in an AFCON. And this is his first victory in a Nations' Cup match as the Head Coach.

This was a loss to the Super Eagles I.M.O. Imagine a whole Super Eagles, relying on 2 penalties and playing a defensive game against a 10-man Eithopia in order to get a win??...It shows how much Confidence our team has.

uzor02: Imagine keshi u re winning with 2goals and ur opponent have a red card he removed mikel 4 yobo. Wat rubbish is dat is he trying to defend t 2goals lead or what and he calls himself a coach ... I tire

I must confess , this was annoying for me, why play defensive at that stage?

We were 2 goals up, against a team that was one man down, and a make shift keeper?

Who knows we just might have scored 2 more goals within the 5 minutes needed to top the group? We did not even try the make shift keeper in 7 minutes? That was pathethic to be sincere, and such highly fearful pattern of play should not be seen with the eagles.

N.b I know some pessimist will open their mouths aloud and find it hard to close it on sunday, after the Nig vs CIV match ends.

We won 2 penalties by attacking. There's time for everything you du'm'ba's's.
If we had conceded 2 late goals, you will still open that hole u call a mouth and scream that its the usual pattern.

We did something we couldn't do in last 2 previous matches: we consolidated on our lead!

It isn't rocket science. Its becos we've been throwing away leads from d beginning of the tournament which is very bad.
I believe that @ 7mins 2 go, with 2 goals up, what a team should be doing is maintaining possession and not attacking recklessly.

If Nigeria isn't going to be torn like cheetah torn baby antelope. Nigeria can't hold on to lead even against small team. But the game might be a surprise.

Don't mind such ppl my brother. It is there type that castigate Mikel for missing a spot kick, failing to realise the guy is the beacon upon which this Eagles team can flourish.

personally after reading comments here, i was like 'was i watching a different match' ,... coz sincerely speaking this is one of the best performance from the boys in recent time. For the first time in this tournament i saw our midfield working ;the passes were more co-ordinated and mikel was a bit fast (compare to previous matches though his sluggish approach halted some counter attack)

And fengor which i'm begining to like ( let's be sincere he does the dirty job ) had a good game and Mba the homebase player seem to know how a creative midfielder should play (had a shot on goal which was spewed by gk sisay ).

Omeruo and oboabona did well, the former blocked a shot that would have ended in enyeama's net. Echiejile had an average game (forget outrun ) he almost found the back of the net same with efe ....

I could go on and on and on with our improvements so far, but i will stop here.Nigerians Let's learn to appreciate good whenever the need arise, imagine a SE player having access to NL, will he be happy to know that 90% of Nigerians couldn't see the effort they put into that match ?........mind you barcelona are the best according to analysts but truth be told they are still a work in progress.

Goodnight nigerians.. ( would definitely miss the service of ogude in qf match )

I disagree with you, the scenario we threw away the leads were different (Ist game, we were a man down, 2nd game, it was a bad penalty call) and we were only a goal ahead.

I might agree with such tactics, if we were on a lone goal lead

I sincerely believe we could have scored 2 more, if we gather our acts together, and come tops of the group

I mean they were not only one man down, they had a keeper, who will most likely be a basket
