A man ‘baptised’ himself in petrol before setting himself ablaze
in a bid to commit suicide after his uncle had ridiculed him
for failing to secure a job.
Police spokesperson confirmed the incident which happened
last Saturday and said Garikai Gwenzi, had since been treated
and discharged from a nearby clinic. It is understood that
sometime late in December, Garikai who stays with his uncle
told him that he was not prepared to go into farming, but
would instead look for jobs for survival. Garikai then left for
