If a definition of a "belt" is a land strip that runs East-West across the country.

Looking at the Nigerian map, Oshogbo is on the same lattitude as Markurdi. Ogbomosho is higher even.

Does that mean Oshogbo and Ogbomosho are "technically" Middle Belt-an?

Is definition of Middle Belt geographical, or based on cultural affinity?

You have to understand that we're in Nigeria where places are grouped mostly on the ground of cultural affinity and not necessarily based on geographical affinity. Middlebelt is just used to describe the minority regions in the North though technically, osogbo could be middle-belt. It's the same thing with the NIger Delta.

Thanks for your comment. There has to be some geographical logic to it though. I guess the most educative way is if someone took the map I attached above and drew a pair of parallel lines (running East to West but not neccesarily longitudinal) to encapsulate where this "Middle Belt" lies.
