If we have, i wil lyk to knw where to get d igbo translation. But if not, its a high time to start d translation to help mek our mother language not to go into extinction. And i wl b glad to c state house of assembly delibrating issues with dia particular dialect.
If i don't understand section 3, paragraph 2, sub section 2a, and its wordings in english, i tink i wil understand it better wen read in my own dialect. Confusion of misinterpretation wil lessen

Most of these things are meant to be in the various dialects. This will at least to an extent make some people that cannot read any ink in written english to have a little knowlegde of knowing what the constitution of their fatherland says.
The constitution contains many civil, political and human rights for the citizens. There are many things done in this country that aren't supposed due to the inawareness of the rights:
fundamental
human right: many human rights are infringed upon. Imagine a citizen of this country not knowing he has the right to talk, express his opinion and walk freely. That is the reason why many policemen seized the ignorance to torture and collect bribe and bail even when it is written that bail is free in the police station for what they didn't do wrong.
Political right: many nigerians do not know they can recall their honorables in various houses if he is not performing, have the right to belong to any political party or remain unallegiance to any party/politician, vote for anybody he wishes to vote for and contest for any election if capable.
Civil right: we are meant to be treated like a king as a citizen by the government because we voted them in. The governments are supposed to provide social amenities like good road, electricity, good water supply etc to the citizen cos they are paying their taxes and not just to 'chop dm money'.
Writting of the constitution in various dialects will at least liberates the citizens from the complete ignorance of what their function as a citizens are and giving them Knowledge of these rights.

NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION IN YORUBA VERSION


Ayanbode Oje a member of the Change Movement Nigeria translated the Nigerian Constitution (1999) into Yoruba Language and We have decided to make the document available to everyone for free.

Yoruba /ˈjɒrʊbə/ (natively èdè Yorùbá) is a Niger–Congo language spoken in West Africa. The number of speakers of Yoruba was estimated at around 20 million in the 1990s.The native tongue of the Yoruba people is spoken, among other languages, in Nigeria, Benin, and Togo and in communities in other parts of Africa, Europe and the Americas. A variety of the language, Lucumi, is the liturgical language of the Santería religion of the Caribbean. It is most closely related to the Owo and Itsekiri language (spoken in the Niger-Delta) and Igala spoken in central Nigeria. (Wikipedia – Yoruba Language)

Our objective is to empower the truly disenfranchised, the oppressed, the voiceless to be able to critically engage in participatory democracy and open governance. Please, this document is not for sale and it is to be effectively distributed for the benefit of all.

We are calling for volunteers to help translate the constitution into other indigenous languages in Nigeria. We are currently working on an audio version of the constitution.
