Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam (born April 16, 1973), professionally known as simply Akon, is a Senegalese American R&B and hip hop recording artist, songwriter, record producer and businessman. In Union City, New Jersey (USA), Akon first discovered hip-hop, but the world of criminals, reaching prison for stealing cars. The time spent in custody, he used to work their musical ideas.
