cocoduck: So he shouldn't study hard to graduate with a good/solid grade abi Are there no job opportunities for physics graduates Is trying to compete in the Nigerian labour market for the few available jobs a stupid thing to do Tell me the skills he should acquire so that he can get automatic success ticket or make it in life with less stress Are you saying being an entrepreneur or skill acquisition is less work or "absolutely" better than getting a good paying job Do you know what would become of the Nigerian economy in the next 5years when the Op will be out of school The world is the way it is so don't encourage young and aspiring youths to shy away from hardwork and competition in the disguise of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship. If you or the Op do not deem it fit to be faithful with the immediate/short term goal (which is graduating from school with good grades) then I don't think bigger things like becoming an employer of labour/entrepreneur is really what you can handle. @Op what you need now is a good grade that will make you competitive and give you a better edge in the labour market and if you feel you'll do better being an entrepreneur then studying hard in school while looking out for opportunities and needs to fill in your immediate society will go a long way in laying a good foundation for you. 1 Like |

You could become an instrumentation engineer in the oil and gas industry. As usual, you would require some more trainings after school. 1 Like |

gentlefrank2000:Judging from the way you constructed your comment I quickly realized that you are lying. I know about 7 people that went FUTO and read physics, They graduated in 2008. But they are doing other things now, Because they could not find any job in any company at all. Now ask your self how many telecommunications companies exist in Nigeria? How many students graduate from universities in the country? I am not trying to say that he shouldn't get good grades, but he should prepare his mind for the realities of the job market. Develop any practical skill. create a job for yourself grow the business and create jobs for others. not the go to school, GET good grades, find a job and live happily ever. Whereas it is far from the reality in the country. |

@ sixteen 08 I didn't say that he shouldn't get good grades. There are quite a few job opportunities for them. but think of it, 5000 people fighting for few available jobs. skill wise , I said any practical skill you find good enough. I didn't say that looking for a job is stupid. but it is more sure to be an entrepreneur and you end up contributing to the growth of the Nigerian economy. think of Microsoft or apple or ikea. Look it is looking for a job that is easier but less sure. entrepreneurship is more difficult but sure if you have the right skills. For nigerian economy to grow, it needs entrepreneurs not job seekers. Looking for a job is the easy way out but entrepreneurship is more difficult but sure way to make it in life. That company that will employ you is owned by somebody. a human like you. and he started it from scratch |

sixteen08: oh me. I am an auto spare parts dealer. I wanted to major in civil aviation but my parents refused. They said I must be either a doctor, lawyer, civil engineer or lecturer, but I said NO. Then they refused to sponsor my education, Then there was a friend of mine that sell auto spare parts, he encouraged me to join him, I hesitated at first but accepted, but now I am enjoying it. I will go back to school someday to study my dream course. |
